It could have been saved. ARDOT had someone lined up to maintain it as a pedestrian bridge, then decided to tear it down, instead. It also costs less to build new than preserve, sadly.

Advertisement and availability of Plans and Proposals for projects authorized for each of these lettings will be four (4) weeks prior to the letting date.
The Proposal Holders List of prime contractors holding bid documents on projects for these lettings will be posted in the PRELETTING INFORMATION Library three times -- the first time will be three (3) weeks prior to the letting date and the final posting will be one (1) week prior to the letting date.
