Title: Richardson, TX: US 75 may get honorary renaming for police officer
Post by: txstateends on March 21, 2019, 03:36:33 AM
The state House has approved its part of legislation to memorialize the late David Sherrard, the first Richardson PD officer to be lost in the line of duty.  Signs will mark US 75 at LBJ Freeway and at the Bush Turnpike in honor of Ofcr. Sherrard.  The article doesn't say, but it looks like if the state Senate also approves and the governor signs it, there will be an honorary naming (probably not a real name change) for him, even though most locals still know US 75 either by its number or Central Expressway.  It will likely be similar to what was done for George W. between Park Lane and Woodall Rodgers on Central, and from Bush Turnpike northward on Central in Plano for Sam Johnson.

I remember highways by numbers, not names.
