Title: 2019 Gribblenation Detroit Roadway Features
Post by: Max Rockatansky on April 28, 2019, 01:09:23 AM
Much like with Chicago I also drove numerous notable highways in the Detroit area on a recent trip to the Mid-West.  The first up in the Detroit Area is in my opinion the most notable; Woodward Avenue south from I-94 to Fort Street.  Woodward Avenue probably doesn't need much of an introduction as the former route of US 10 and current route of M-1.  I made a point of visiting the current terminus of M-1 at Grand Circus Park, the former US 10/US 112 terminus at Woodward/Michigan Avenue and even former US 25 at Fort Street.  I did find it somewhat surreal seeing Woodward with so many active businesses and street cars after growing up in the Detroit area the peak decline of the city.

The second feature in the Detroit series is I-375.  Out of all the roads I recently visited on my recent Mid-West trip I-375 might have been the most interesting given it's fate is up in the air.  The most recent recommendation by MDOT is to reduce I-375 to a six-seven lane boulevard.

The next Detroit feature is the Lodge Freeway which is part of M-10.  The Lodge Freeway carried various previous designations such as; US 12, US 10 and even I-696 BS.  Suffice to say the Lodge has improved immensely over the past decade and a half from what I remember in the late 1990s.

Did you see any evidence of Gordie Howe bridge construction on the US side?

Negative, the construction is the Delray neighborhood west of the Ambassador Bridge.

The last 2019 Detroit feature is the entire route of M-14:
