Down here his son Tim Conway, Jr. has the 6-10pm block on KFI. Tim Conway, Sr. used to call into the show and was a big hit. Apparently a class act by all who knew him.
I always like the way he made it difficult for fellow comedian Harvey Korman to keep a straight face during a skit. There was one where Korman was an angry customer, and Conway played the counterman who was slow and half witted which called for Korman's character to be mad, but still Harvey would turn away to laugh real hard.
Of course the directors of the Carol Burnett Show had the cameral man zoom in for a closeup of Harvey Korman busted out laughing in between his act of an angry man.
I can't remember the skit, but Conway came up with some outlandish line that was apparently not scripted, and Korman asked him in front of the audience, "Are we really going with that?"
What's a Tim Conway?
