Title: CA 2
Post by: Max Rockatansky on May 31, 2019, 11:08:55 PM
Over the past 8 years I've ended up clinching CA 2 and much of it's former alignments in small pieces.  In 2016 I visited the Angeles Crest Highway portion of CA 2 headed west from CA 138 to I-210 in La Canada Flintridge.  The blog below focuses on the Angeles Crest Highway but includes four other articles where I hit on the remainder of the highway as defined in 1934:

pg. 86 at http://libraryarchives.metro.net/DPGTL/Californiahighways/_index-keyword-1937-1967.pdf shows several references to the Angeles Crest highway that should provide detail and likely some photos too...

Repairs are moving ahead and should be ready for the rainy reason to be washed out again and shut down for the next year again lol

On a side note I wish Caltrans would be a bit more transparent in updating the public on the progress and what's taking so long other than a twice a year update "the mountain is moving." It's embarrassing how long it's taking to fix this.

Hopefully Upper Big Tujunga Canyon is opened soon as well.

How well signed is CA 2 along Santa Monica Blvd. despite its relinquishments? Also, are there any Historic US 66 signs along that segment of CA 2?

Neither is signed especially well.

Well, you do have a sign in Santa Monica telling you you've reached the end of Route 66. So there's that.

At least that's accurate.  The same can't be said for the stolen NOTR valor on 7th and Broadway in downtown Los Angeles.

There are both 2s and 66s every so often.
