Title: US 395 on El Camino Sierra
Post by: Max Rockatansky on July 04, 2019, 12:53:50 AM
I've been closing in capping off the last three of my 2016 road albums of California Highways into articles.  The largest of the final three was US 395 south from the Nevada State Line south on what was once known as El Camino Sierra.  El Camino Sierra was promoted as something akin to an early Auto Trail much like El Camino Real was before the US Route system was created.  El Camino Sierra has carried numerous designations over the years such as; US 6, CA 168 and CA 7 but by far the most noted is US 395.  I took a slightly different tact with this article and included a lot of sites that are only accessible on side roads and highways.  Suffice to say that US 395 on the route of El Camino Sierra rivals anything that the State Highway system has to offer in terms of history and scenery.  I included links to all my Trans-Sierra Highway articles (completed or not) along with notable places like Bodie, US 6 and Laws.

Made a massive update to the US 395/El Camino Sierra article.  The article contains far more photos from US 395 from the Nevada State Line south to CA 14 along with longer narratives on the Trans-Sierra Highways.
