has NCDOT indicated a beginning date or released any signage /exit number plans for the sign changes they will make to the US 29 freeway south of greensboro to thomasvile (soon to be "former" business 85)
and to wendover avenue (will the freeway section of wendover , between battleground and spring garden, gain exit numbers once it becomes the new us-70)?
or are they saving this for after i-840 is finished?

Sign plans showing the removal of Business 85 signs from I-40 through Greensboro were included among the plans for the last segment of I-840 from Lawndale Drive to US 29, suggesting that they are waiting until I-840 is completed and signed along the entire length of the Greensboro Loop before work to remove the Business 85 shields will start. Those plans did not include the segment of Business 85 along US 29/70, and there are no contract listings regarding that section, so timing for that section is unknown.
Huh, I didn't realize that ALL of Business 85 would be decommissioned.
*looks nervously at Business 95*
I think the portion of the "original" Business 85 (between mainline 85's Exits 87 and 118) should have had its exits numbered like the former Interstate 85 (and now former Business 85) alignment between the Painter Boulevard Freeway and the "Death Valley" interchange's exits numbers are. Even though the original Business 85 is not completely freeway from end-to-end, i think the exits should have had numbers. Or does North Carolina only number exits on freeways and tollways?

NC does selectively number exits on non-freeway sections of US designated routes.
I guess we forgot that this thread existed.
Quote from: 74/171FAN on May 23, 2024, 04:55:50 PMMileage Mike just uploaded a full loop. Basically, no US 70 signage at Wendover Ave, and no I-85 BL or US 70 at I-85/US 29 southwest of Greensboro.
I received a response to my US 70 comment stating that there is a shield at the I-40 EB Exit at Wendover Ave as of yesterday.
Has all Business 85 signage been removed between the two Interstate 85 junctions in Greensboro? As of last year, there were still Business 85 signs on the side streets.
Hey,
I can confirm that US 70 rerouting through Greensboro is currently ongoing. I saw US 70 shields popping up along I-40 on the overhead signage at the Wendover Ave interchange (Exit 214). The overhead signage reads "US 70, WENDOVER AVE" like 1/2 mile or something like that. I will try to get the photos today or this week.
No US 70 shields along Wendover Ave yet.

I found one WB at the US 29/US 220 interchange in Greensboro Saturday that I had to turn around to photograph that I will post sometime this week. I saw none along NC 68 or US 29 NB/US 70 EB approaching NC 68.
Looks like NCDOT has put up new BGS's on I-40 at Wendover with US-70 shields in both directions. Still no sign of US-70 off of I-73/US-421 or on Wendover itself. Also they replaced the old NC-6 Patterson Ave. sign.
I posted pictures in the Facebook Southeast Roads group.
