Okay, who at New Mexico DOT reads this forum? KEEP DOING THE US SHIELD THAT WAY
Thats a good lookin US shield on the BGS's  The old spec New Mexico I- shields are not too bad either.
I agree, that signage is truly amazing. I especially like the Business US 54 shield designed like an interstate business shield.
Love the US-54 shield!
The only consistent thing about New Mexico highway signage is its inconsistency. I've observed this for years, and yet every time I'm in the state, I am freshly astounded by some of the things they do. I can only conclude that either NMDOT doesn't have any signage standards, or else their employees and contractors are not familiar with the standards.
Nice photos!

I found some button copy on Old 66/Central Ave at I-40 west of Albuquerque in October 2007. Hopefully it is still there in 10 days.
