There's also a vehicle-facing countdown for BC 99 south before the US border crossing.  The light is red for long periods to avoid bunching through the Peace Arch Park, and to encourage motorists to shut off their motors.  Everyone else around me left theirs on, so I did too.  Only when I saw the countdown start did I realize I could have shut it off and not be caught off guard when the light turned green.  It's the only vehicle countdown I've ever seen.
