Didn't see any passenger cars or locos in the video. Guess they didn't derail and were taken away. Its odd to see a derailment where all the cars just lay over on their side, but remain in a straight line
The article says no passengers were injured. I wonder how severe the damage to the passengers' automobiles was.
That was over a month ago, and I heard nothing about it until tonight!
That's the way the news goes. Even with a jillion news outlets and 24-hour coverage–when there's something big going on, that's all you hear about.
I never saw any follow-up articles describing how much damage the automobiles suffered. It had to have been pretty severe.

This was the only post-incident thing I found about it (archive.org link due to hard paywall): https://web.archive.org/web/20200411005024/https://trn.trains.com/news/news-wire/2020/04/06-new-amtrak-ceo-in-town-hall-employee-event-discusses-auto-train-derailment-recovery

Thanks for that.
QuoteA 17-member emergency response team was dispatched to Lorton and continued to support passengers "by getting baggage and personal effects returned to them and (arranging for) vehicle replacement."
I wonder what "vehicle replacement" involved.
