When I worked there in 2000, my starting wage was $5.15 an hour.

Wow, that's not that far off what I make now, with considerably less responsibility. Maybe I should switch jobs.

Hell, I caught shoplifters and got into a ton of fights there for $7.25 circa 2001.  I think by the time I left I made $9.50 after three years?   What the twenty year rate on inflation?

Retailers that were allowed to stay open during the shutdown did land-office business. One company I know gave everyone a $1 per hour raise across the board on top of giving an extra $2 per hour for hazard pay.
