What is the highest sign you've found on your travels?
I pass by this sign often. I-68 West in Morgantown, West Virginia.
http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=39.584334,-79.953271&spn=0,0.014613&t=h&z=17&layer=c&cbll=39.584296,-79.953377&panoid=yWpf918QXOuLcrS3QiYV-Q&cbp=12,247.17,,0,-12.31 (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=39.584334,-79.953271&spn=0,0.014613&t=h&z=17&layer=c&cbll=39.584296,-79.953377&panoid=yWpf918QXOuLcrS3QiYV-Q&cbp=12,247.17,,0,-12.31)
I would guess that the sign is 20-25 feet above the roadway.
Any coincidence that you've posted a topic titled "Highest sign" on 4/20? :spin:
On the US 31 - St Joesph Parkway, the US 12 Niles-New Buffalo sign.
There are a few reassurance shields along Colfax Ave in Aurora that are mounted above the light like so:
(https://www.aaroads.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.davidjcorcoran.com%2Fhighways%2Fco%2F287%2F2to225%2F11.JPG&hash=6ca2dc7ccf36b183e6fed774841126a022fc9be6)
Wyoming tends to mount urban signage above the light as well, which becomes quite high in some instances

I know I've seen and think I even have a photo of a freeway sign mounted really high like yours is, but I can't think of where/what it is off the top of my head
there is a "clearance 26 feet 5 in" sign somewhere around Pomona on a side street near US-60. It's in an industrial park, so I'm guessing sometimes vehicles will be transporting items so high that they need the warning.
The sign is mounted on the railroad overpass it serves, so I'd say it's about 27 feet high.
Here are some taller ones...

At the end of Southbound OH-315, there is a Greenlawn Drive BGS mounted on the I-70 Overpass. I would estimate it at about 50 feet above the OH-315 roadway. Here's the best picture that Google Maps has to provide...for some reason, it is messed up on the OH-315 view.

On the Ben Franklin Bridge, speed limit signs are mounted above the lane designation lights (now rendered unnecessary by moveable barrier): www.alpsroads.net/roads/nj/i-676/wpa.jpg
When I first read the thread topic, before clicking on the link, the first example that came to mind was the original post citing the exit for US-119 off of I-68.

Ha! Good catch!
This is probably the highest reassurance sign in Virginia

I would think that anytime you have an overpass passing over a road adjacent to a railroad, you could have signs mounted about that high. The overhead signs at Michigan Ave and M-60 near Jackson are at least that high.
INDOT has a fairly common practice of mounting overhead reassurance markers on the same mount where the opposite approach would have overhead guide and/or lane-use signs.
The title of this thread can be treated in two separate ways - tallest sign like the German example Chris posted or highest off the ground in which case the award must go to McDonalds as virtually every American branch has a golden arches which towers above everything else like here (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=mcdonalds&sll=30.965319,-95.886612&sspn=0.056818,0.144196&ie=UTF8&split=1&rq=1&ev=p&radius=4.28&hq=mcdonalds&hnear=&ll=30.963921,-95.887041&spn=0,0.144196&z=14&layer=c&cbll=30.963882,-95.887181&panoid=tl7EuAGlwwghnTxnbzJF9g&cbp=12,89.41,,0,-11.93) :colorful:
