Everyone complains about the displacement caused by highway building and one seemingly obvious solution is to build replacement housing. This was done for I-105 in Los Angeles. As part of a 1981 Consent Decree, Caltrans agreed to build 4,000 housing units for the predominantly poor and minority residents of South LA who had to move to speed up the journey to LAX and relieve the Santa Monica Freeway. They're still around as the Century Housing Corporation. Are there any other examples?
