WHEN: 6/19 @ 12 PM
WHERE: Sly Fox Brewhouse & Eatery - http://www.slyfoxbeer.com/
The meet will feature the usual lunch, looking at maps, conversation, etc. at the home of Route 113 Indian Pale Ale, on what else, PA 113 in Phoenixville. After lunch we will head east on PA 23 and skirt the northern edge of the Valley Forge National Historical Park en route to tour the Philadelphia Traffic Management Center at the District 6-0 headquarters in King of Prussia. The tour will continue eastward on PA 23 to the stub end of the Schuylkill Parkway, then south to view the Blue Route reconstruction, then north to see the rehabilitation of the PA 309/Fort Washington Expressway and conclude with construction of the US 202 Parkway. For the rundown, and to keep up-to-date on any changes, click on http://www.pahighways.com/meets/philadelphia.html. Directions, agenda, and e-mail link if interested are located there. Please RSVP by June 12 so that I can give District 6-0 and the restaurant a total.
Duty weekend. Sorry but won't make it.
Am planning on a trip to visit friends and family in Delaware in late June/early July. My schedule will bring me to the northeast one week after the SE PA meet unfortunately.
Email sent. Can't wait!
My son's high school graduation party is that day, so (unfortunately) I cannot make it.
I'll try to make it. I have pros and cons to weigh...
Pro: Assuming I pass my driving test on June 14th, I'll actually be able to attend this meet on my own!
Con: I need a car.
Pro: There are only 3 days left of school after this meet.
Con: Two of those days I am taking finals, so I may need to weekend to study.
I'll be sure to find out if I can attend ASAP.

time to beg your parents :sombrero:
I'm going to be getting a car at some point in the future, but likely not until the end of the summer, so if I go to the meet alone, that would mean for 1 day my dad wouldn't have his car...
So I don't know.
I'm planning to make an appearance at the meet.
RSVP sent. Hopefully I won't have anything come up that precludes my attendance. Knocking on wood that the critters stay healthy and that there are no more illnesses or deaths in the family. Looking forward to clinching the counties in Maryland and New Jersey on this trip, as well as shaking down the roadtrip-worthiness of my new vehicle. I'll finally be able to drive on some of the tours instead of hitching a ride.
If anyone is interested in going to the Phillies/Twins game the Friday night prior - send me a note!

I wish I could go, but I don't have the money unfortunately.
Nevermind the game is sold out.

Just as well. I haven't done MLB since the '94 strike.
Phillies-Twins? How did that interleague rivalry come into being?

it's the best they can do to replicate that famous Pirates-Senators rivalry of '25.
(in other words: don't ask me, it's pretty random!)

The teams in the NL East (like the Phillies) are matched up with the teams in the AL Central (like the Twins) in interleague play this season.
I'll be in NC that week. Even if I left a day earlier for the meet, I would be in no shape for a road meet after all that driving.
I should have my RSVP in a day or two (making sure transportation is straightened out first)
If anyone is interested in attending a baseball game after the meet (even if you can't make the meet itself), a few of us are planning to catch a Reading Phillies game, which will be at 6:35pm. Tickets will be roughly $10 a person, which can be paid for at the stadium itself. Inquire within.

I unfortunately cannot. I
may be catching a Wilmington Blue Rocks game that night.
I've gotten the go-ahead to come to the Reading Phillies game.
I'd like to go, but with spending $$$ to visit my Dad in May and the NASCAR races in Charlotte (Memorial Day) and Daytona (July 3rd), I'm too tapped out.
A few of us out of towners will be going into South Philadelphia Friday Night for some of the famous cheesesteaks. (Geno's, Pat's, or Cosmi's Deli) If you are interested in joining us, drop me a line.
Also, if anyone would like to join some of us in going to Independence National Historic Site prior to the meet Saturday Morning.
So, what size crowd are we expecting?
I have 22 on the list.

May I suggest Jim's? Easily better than Pat's and Geno's.

Sounds fun, but I am spending Friday and Saturday nights in Breezewood and driving over for the meet on Saturday.

You're all wrong. The little place NEXT to Jim's is great. All those three famous ones are overblown.
Awesome meet was awesome! Scott, sorry you couldn't show up. There were three hours of lunch if you were running late (can't blame Jeff for that, I think we decided it was Doug's fault).
Can't be Doug's fault. He wasn't the one who asked the bill to come all in one instead of separated out...
I wish I could've gone, also. But oh well. Glad to hear a good time was had (by all?).

Doug's fault for discovering SR 0113 beer, which led Jeff to this place for the meet.

That's also Doug's fault, for making me duck to get out of his way. :-P

Nope. Mr. Prince was present.

I will blame Westmere Beverage of Albany/Guilderland, NY to carrying the Route 113 IPA, which led to my purchase of said beer in July 2008, which led me to tell Jeff Kitsko and others in attendance at last weekend's meet about said beer. I accept the blame for finding that out. However, I don't think any of us would have envisioned it taking about an hour to get the billing for lunch straightened out.

As I explained to people there, all the major networks and news channels are monitored in case of breaking stories that might affect traffic in the PA area. (Security, weather, events, accidents, any number of factors could all play a role.) Of course, that means you're also watching soccer, soap operas, whatever else is on.
I'd like to thank all who made the trip to attended the second SEPA Meet, which has taken the record for attendance at a Pennsylvania meet from the 2003 SWPA. At least the eastern side beating the western side is just in meets and not hockey, which would not sit well on this side.
A recap of the meet has been posted on the blog (http://www.pahighways.com/blog/).

Aside from the check debacle, Sly Fox will not be on the list of potential locations for a third SEPA.
I called to reserve the private room and was told that it was open, so I made the reservation. Then I got there and confusion erupted when I said I didn't ask for a buffet as I would let everyone order what they wanted off the menu. Then I was asked if I made the reservation for the Royersford location, which I had not. Then I was told the private room had been reserved since exactly one week before I had called, which should have been known by the staff when I called.
For those of you that went to the meet but didn't go to the ballgame after wards, here's what you missed!

Anyone else have any photos from the meet? I'd like to see them!
No fancy Flickr set or anything like that, but here's a zip archive (http://www.mediafire.com/?yqmew2yg3ym). Note that there's no "director's cut" here: that's every photo, even the ones that didn't come out. Also includes the drive down and the drive home in addition to the meet itself. Cookie if you can figure out what way I was driving home. :coffee:
I posted most of mine but PA 100 and PA 23, the TMC and the Schuykill Pkwy and the 309. Those I haven't gotten too :) - but most of the routes are up on my flickr page
I have a question about the route we took on the tour. After we finished looking at the unused stub end of the PA 23 "Goat Path" freeway, what route did we take to get to the Turnpike, and what exit did we use to enter the turnpike, before we exited at PA 309?
Why do I ask, you may ask? To plan interstate-clinching routes for my trip from the upcoming March meet in New Jersey.
(Current thinking is to take the Turnpike south to I-276 west on the return trip, then I need to figure out how far west I need to go on the PA Turnpike to clinch the route, and how I will have to determine my access to I-495 in order to get that route clinched.)

My MS Streets and Trips route files for the trip indicate we got on the Interstates at I-476 exit 18, went from there to the Turnpike, then exited the Turnpike at exit 337 to PA 309.
I'm not dead sure the files, which reflected Jeff's planned itinerary, incorporated all changes from the original plan. But the only change I recall (from my getting lost on the way to the PennDOT operations center) affected my coverage of PA 23, and not the freeway part of our tour.
This was the route. Google extended US 206 into Penn's Woods I see. :pan:
Well, US 206 does enter Pennsylvania, but it has no business being in Norristown.
It seems as though 206 has been paired with 202 for everything south of Suffern, NY. Hey, at least part of that in New Jersey is correct.
Just a year late, I've finally gotten the meet page up (and the associated content on other pages). If you click wisely, you may get a sneak peek of some of tonight's coming UPDATE. www.alpsroads.net/roads/pa/sepa
