Title: Have you bought a car online? How was the experience?
Post by: OCGuy81 on February 17, 2021, 10:37:54 PM
My wife and I just bought a 2018 BMW X5 off of Carvana.

Excellent experience! No having to play the haggling game, quick delivery, easy return policy if we weren't satisfied. I think I'll be buying online from here on out!

I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of finishing a purchase online but I still won't make a purchase without a test drive.

There's a Carvana vending machine in Novi, MI a few miles from my home.  I would love to be there to watch when someone picks up a vehicle.  Is it like a snack vending machine?  Do you endlessly feed folding green into the bill acceptor, with half of it being rejected and spit back out?  If your car gets stuck on the way down, do you shake or tilt the building?  If you accidentally press C8 instead of C7, are you stuck with whatever vehicle is in that slot?

Do people occasionally get two for the price of one?

We got ours delivered, but the vending machines look cool.

It would be terrible to have your car get jammed in the machine. LOL! But I like your two for one idea

i had a recent good experience with craigslist -- 99 toyota camry LE (the pimped out version with power everything) for $1200. the guy had had some bad experiences with people dicking him around, but i assured him that if 80% of the ad was true, i'd have cash on the spot. turns out it was all true. car purrs like a kitten, decent shape save a few really minor dings, interior's good, stock am/fm/cd/tape shakes the hubcaps off the wheels. owned by little old lady, maintained by her mechanic son.

I once sold a car on Craigslist.  Sometime around 2004, I bought an '87 Corolla FX hatchback for $50 from a friend.  I didn't have money to get a new muffler for it to pass emissions testing the next year, so I sold it for $150 on Craigslist.  Wrote the transfer of title on a sheet of notebook paper.

Does it accept credit cards, and does it charge a 10 cent fee for using one?
