Title: US 99/US 50 and the Lincoln Highway in Lodi-Galt
Post by: Max Rockatansky on May 20, 2021, 03:35:58 PM
The cities of Lodi and Galt were once part of the multiplex of US Routes 99-50.  Within Lodi US Route 99-50 followed Cherokee Lane whereas in Galt it followed Woodson Road and Lincoln Way until 1938.  The corridors of Lodi and Galt were once part of the earliest alignments of the Lincoln Highway over Legislative Route Number 4.   Originally the Lincoln Highway followed Lower Sacramento Road from Galt to Lodi via Woodbridge.  This alignment of the Lincoln Highway was pushed eastward towards Cherokee Lane in the late 1910s when Legislative Route Number 4 was rerouted.

Notably; the below blog on Lodi and Galt serves as the final entry Gribblenation regarding the surface alignments of US Route 99 north of Los Angeles to Sacramento.  I didn't anticipate years ago that we would have this level of completeness regarding for a surface alignment of a former US Route but here we are.
