Title: IH-35E, design-build project from IH-635 to Bush Turnpike

The winning proposer was announced at today's TxDOT meeting. This project will expand frontage roads, add one lane in each direction (for a total of 8), and retain the existing two managed lanes with enough pavement to add two more managed lanes.

Construction: $642 million
Maintenance: $13.3 million
Total: $655 million

This project was listed at $700, so the winning price appears to be around 6% below budget.

As usual with design-build awards, no other information is available.

For some reason I was under the impression that the end result of phase two would result in 8 GP lanes and four tolled. Any word on when the additional tolled lanes will begin? I also hope this will result in 12ft lanes instead of 11ft.
