Title: Who makes the mast arms for the Pacific Northwest?
Post by: Quillz on September 12, 2021, 05:07:26 PM
I've been visiting Oregon, Washington, and Alaska quite a bit in recent years, and one thing I've noticed is that I really like the mast arm installations. They have a rather brutalist look to them, as they are comprised of square angles. But what I really like is the redundancy. Every lane has a dedicated light, even if unnecessary. I noticed this in particular in Washington, around the Port Angeles area. Lemme see if I can find a pic...

Just wondering if anyone knows the company that makes these? I really like them and would like to see them expanded around the nation.

I can't offer much help, but I can recommend Joshua's Restaurant in Port Angeles!

I already went there. That image is from the Super 8 I stayed at when visiting Port Angeles last year.

I'm not sure about those older ones, but these days, the main manufacture of mast arms (in the northwest, and I believe nationally) is Valmont (https://www.valmontstructures.com/products-solutions/traffic-mass-transit/traffic-structures). They're not quite a monopoly, but my understanding is that they're the primary manufacturer of the signal poles used around here by a large margin, so they make many different styles beyond the ones you're thinking of.
