Title: Routes ending in water
Post by: SkyPesos on September 14, 2021, 09:34:21 PM
Since today seems to be shitpost day here, I'll contribute too  :spin:

Starting off with MO 94's eastern terminus:

A few state routes that continue (legally) onto ferries but don't have a second road section:

SR 304 - Bremerton to Seattle
SR 305 - Bainbridge to Seattle
SR 339 - Vashon to Seattle (aka no road to begin with)
SR 163 - Pt Defiance to Tahlequah
SR 160 - Southworth to Fauntleroy
SR 20 Spur - Anacortes to the San Juans

Several of Utah's state park routes in the 300s end at a boat ramp:

301 (Steinaker)
304 (Hyrum)
306 (East Canyon)
309 (Millsite)
311 (Starvation)
314 (Deer Creek)

Adding on to this, NC 45 and NC 211 meet that criteria too, I believe.

Virginia SR 180 ends at a boat ramp.

NC 306 and 615 almost end at ferry terminals after a ferry crossing, but both run on land for just a little bit to meet NC 92/99 and NC 168, respectively.

Does ending in the middle of a tunnel count as ending in water? If so, NJ 139

Tennessee 46, though it's a ferry route and doesn't truly end at water, I still like the photo op:

Then US 46 on the GWB would count too.

NY 25 ends at the Orient-New London Ferry; and NY 27 and RI 108 end at lighthouses.

Old IL 13 has multiple sections of the road at the bottom of Crab Orchard Lake, near Cambria

The Carbondale side and Carterville sides of the "underwater"  section of Old 13 are boat ramps for Crab Orchard Lake

IL 1 and KY 91 (my Fictional US 641 northern extension) both end at the respective Ohio River Shore of the Cave in Rock Ferry

But it doesn't end there.

And, ideally, it floats on the water.

In that vein, both stubs of I-666 . I remember seeing that proposal somewhere (and unrelated to my take on the Outer Capital Beltway).

Bunch of Kentucky state routes end at boat ramps, although technically state maintenance ends prior to the ramp and the Corps of Engineers or other non-transportation agency maintains the rest.

Some lakes have Corps-posted signs, "Road Ends In Water XXX-XXXX Feet" to allow for variations between winter and summer pool.
