Just curious if anyone has heard from kphoger. Doesn't look like he's on timeout, but he hasn't logged in since 9/5. Not sure if anyone kept in contact with him outside of the forum, but just wanted to make sure all was on the up and up.
Chris
He takes frequent long breaks from the forum.

Maybe went down to Mexico.
Chris
Wouldn't be surprised if he needs a break from here after being the first user to reach 20k posts.

Yes, this is quite normal and even expected from Kphoger. He will randomly show back up some day, it could be tomorrow or it could be next spring.
Here's a general thread on the topic of roadgeek disappearances (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=12031.0) - not that a break from the forum necessarily means anything bad.
Nobody's catching up to him anytime soon, HB is the closest and he's over 3K behind. Max Rockatansky will probably pass him sometime in the future and will probably hold number 1 for the foreseeable future with his high post per day average.

He's living that Monkees song, "What Am I Doing Hangin' Round." ("Just a loud-mouthed Yankee, I went down to Mexico.")

The real amusing thing is that I couldn't give shit what my post count is. I would be perfectly happy if it was removed as a feature.

Do fictional post counts belong in fictional?

The real question you should be asking is if flat and/or haunted posts count?

It's a contest.

Then you would be 223rd. I'm 13th and Kphoger is winning. Not bad.

But it isn't a contest. You along with a couple others are completely obsessed with post statistics, very few people actually care. Is there not something more grandiose to contribute to the road community than worrying about post count stats on AAroads?
I get my competitive kicks out of racking up road accolades on Wikipedia. It's much more satisfying.

I'm pretty active on Facebook road groups and the Gribblenation blog. I would certainly say way more active than I am on here.

Same here. It's not something I pay any attention to.
If you're going to obsess over a number, do it over miles of road traveled.

Nah, convert it to nanometers. Shouldn't be that hard in a real measurement system, it's just *10^12 :colorful:

Ok fine, that's engineering notation then, as it's to a power of a multiple of 3.

If you were removed as a "feature", the quality of AARoads would take a big drop. Post away Max!

Kyle Hoger has no public Facebook activity since 2016. And he and I have no mutual friends. That tells me that he either doesn't really participate on Facebook that much, or reserves his connections for those he knows better than through roadgeeking. So one can't determine anything about his going off the radar from his social media presence.
(For the record, I rarely post anything for public view on Facebook. It's either limited to friends, or various subsets of friends.)
I took a break when I don't have time to deal with things that are difficult.
