What highways has everyone clinched on foot? I ran M-185 (8.2 miles) a couple years ago and it got me thinking about other highways I've clinched on foot. Off the top of my head I know that I completed CA 275, CA 283 and CA 260 also on foot also.
M-185 is the only one I can think of off the top of my head for me.
FL 800 and MS 702 (it's about a quarter mile).
MD 45 Bypass (Towson) because the road was closed when I clinched it for Towson's 4th of July parade.
I clinched Sacramento's Tower Bridge (unsigned remnant of CA 275) on foot, while living car-free that summer in downtown Sacramento. I'm not sure I later clinched the rest of CA 275 before it was relinquished.
M-185, part on foot and the rest on a rented bike.
I've clinched on foot segments of some other highways I otherwise clinched by car.
VT 26, but maybe that was by galloping, or doing the Dougie.
^ Also skipping.
Haven't done, but now am planning it:
OR 82T and OR 206T, both in Elgin
Some others that came to mind from running routes:
- CA 218
- WA 304 (which is weird since I ran the whole thing but the ferry)
- FL 552
- FL 551
- FL 527
- FL 526
- FL 482
- The Key West segment of A1A
- CA 282
- Former NM 2001 which I think was active (it was signed) highway when I ran it.
I've only biked MI-185; I have walked MI-143 from East Lansing to Frandor.
For me it's WY 173, US 71 Business in Maryville MO, SD 204, I 90 Business in Spearfish (multiple times) I 80 Business in Laramie, and I think that's about it. I've finished off a lot of routes by running and filled in gaps in my map, but full clinches are rare (did a 15-mile out-n-back along NE 33 west of Crete once). I've biked SD 324 and SD 204 as well.
I don't think I have anything fully clinched without the use of a car or bus at all, but almost every non-motorway route I have mileage on in the UK has at least some component on foot.

Yeah, when I was in Europe a few years ago pretty much all non-motorway/freeway mileage was by running (since I left my driver's license back home because I thought I wouldn't need it).
VA 162.

Didn't a certain someone crab walk it?
I finished USVI 35 on foot after our bus clinched most of it. The only other numbered roads I've clinched on foot have been at the county level.
MD 500 (Queens Chapel Rd) in PG County. I was living at UMD at the time, and in trying to clinch all the routes in the area I realized I had had enough of driving and decided it was easier to run down that road and take the Metro back.
VA-412 in Blacksburg. I had also clinched VA-314, but now there is a new leg on the north side of Prices Fork Road (SR-685 at this point) that runs between the US-460 Bypass and the Holiday Inn Express. It looks like Virginia Tech is currently in the process of extending this section of VA-314 further north. Mark it as another Unclinched!

Do you have photographic evidence of this? The VA 314 (https://www.google.com/maps/@37.2260265,-80.4426626,3a,75y,287.24h,79.69t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sQpnK2FC_8PTcJrBb2nheOQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) segment west of US 460 and south of Prices Fork Rd on Plantation Rd has been there as long as I can remember.
I've done a few of WA's shortest on foot just for fun:
WA 213 - the short, unsigned spur into the town of Malott
WA 41 - The west side of the WA/ID state line in Newport
WA 519 - Walked it several times while taking pictures of viaduct construction, and also in general for Sounders games
WA 339 is technically one you can clinch without moving your body in any way, as it's just the passenger ferry (now a county water taxi).

Indeed, Plantation Road is a much older section of VA-314 south of Prices Fork Road. This section of VA-314 north of Prices Fork is not the northern part of Plantation Road, but rather a "frontage road" located closer to the [southbound] offramp from the US-460 Bypass. I'm using Ducky (which is currently sending me to Apple Maps), so here is the link: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=holiday+inn+express%2C+blacksburg+va&t=h_&ia=web&iaxm=places (https://duckduckgo.com/?q=holiday+inn+express%2C+blacksburg+va&t=h_&ia=web&iaxm=places)
You will need to flip over to Satellite mode. That very short stretch of VA-314 stubs into a circular lot that is currently being used for construction staging. It looks like Virginia Tech is building a good size complex behind the Holiday Inn Express.
For the record, this is not the only section of VA-314 that I would need to walk to reclinch it. There were also some changes to the Southgate campus entrance when the interchange was constructed there. I've driven through that, but wasn't thinking about reclinching when I was there last time.
I walked all of OH-578 in Grand Rapids out and back (about 1,000 feet each way) before it was redesignated as part of the OH-295 extension when the US-24 expressway opened. (It was the connector over the Maumee River between OH-65 and former US-24.)
I've biked all of M-185 umpteen times.
Arizona State Route 366. On a bicycle. Much easier to clinch going eastbound, and that's the direction I took!
Occasionally I see some wackos in lycra shorts attempting to clinch it westbound. No thanks.
I also clinched Arizona State Route 153 on a bicycle, back when it existed.

I wonder how mapmikey would be able to find more information on this...
Former remnants of CA-141 in Vallejo was clinched by foot.
https://www.cahighways.org/ROUTE141.html
I don't think I've ever clinched the entire length of a route on foot, though I've walked and biked plenty of portions of them, especially in and around Boston. Notably I've walked Storrow Drive east of Charlesgate and I-93 through the Big Dig.
I can't think of any I have clinched on foot.
On bicycle? Many hundreds at this point. Almost 500 spread over seven states. Some of them like MA 27 (at 73 miles) done all at once in a single ride.

Large state entities in Virginia often construct these roads as part of capital projects, then turn the road "over to the State" (ergo, VDOT) when complete (similar to how developers build roads for large subdivisions and turn them over to VDOT for maintenance). Oddly, the facility that Virginia Tech has recently constructed is for [de-icing compound] storage and salt trucks. Which is needed for the large parking lots and other alleys that are not maintained by VDOT as part of VA-314.
Back to the thread, it is a total quirk that I ever clinched VA-314 on foot. Nobody in their right mind would ever walk out to the Southgate entrance. But I wanted to check out the progress on the construction of the (then) new Veterinary Medicine campus. Once there, I decided to check out the (then) new signs and maps at the Southgate visitor entrance, which are still a good distance away from the US-460 Bypass. At the Southgate, I saw a stranded vehicle on the Bypass and walked out to help. Unknowingly, I clinched all of VA-314 in the process.

On a bike I think all I have is M-185. I've always been way more into running and hiking than cycling.
