Time to compete with Sheetz that we have here. Wawa never planned to expand to NC but Royal Farms wants to

Hope they enjoy that famous chicken
I think they've already expanded north of the Mason-Dixon line. And they do have great chicken.
I can't wait. I have been to Royal Farms somewhere in Delaware. Its been a long time. I want to see them come here!
Two are opening in the Richmond area soon.
I’m very surprised Wawa doesn’t plan to expand to North Carolina. They could have beaten Royal Farms to the Currituck area.
Royal Farms has good fried chicken, and even better fries (aka potato wedges), but after that there's really nothing impressive at their stores. At least up here in Wawa land, they only get a fraction of the traffic Wawa gets.
In North Carolina, their main offerings will do well.

They have numerous stores in the Philly/South Jersey region.
Royal Farms should have no problem expanding further south.
In the meantime, Wawa is scheduled to get SEPTA service later this year.
Based only on 2 Royal Farms food experiences (chicken, of course) - They do do chicken probably better than Sheetz does any one thing, but Sheetz has better variety (at least a couple of years ago) if you're not hungry for chicken.

Based on what I've heard, what passes for a hoagie there sucks. The breakfast sandwiches are okay, nothing that thrills me. Same with their coffee. They do have crunchy ice for the fountain sodas which is nice.

Outer Banks would love Wawa. They've succeeded on the Delmarva and Jersey shore.
Well I found this

And this. Wilmington and Myrtle Beach are unclaimed so I wouldn't be surprised if they get one of these.

This may be the most interesting thing you have posted here. Great find!
Once the Richmond area locations open, we will have the trifecta (Royal Farms, Sheetz, Wawa).
Hampton Roads still doesn't have Sheetz, but I know there's a Royal Farms on US 17 in York County just outside Newport News city limits.
I'm also surprised Wawa have not expanded into NC yet. Given how people seem to go goo goo gah gah over their milk, I'm sure they would've done well down there.

I'm officially jealous. Not only that, but you also have Kroger and Publix. That's about as good as it gets for food.

I have a book Wawa released on its 50th anniversary in 2014. The author said that it didn't want to compete directly with Sheetz in North Carolina, where the latter had already established its presence. Wawa instead focused in developing its market in Florida, with its first store in 2012 and many more since.

Definitely hasn't stopped Sheetz from competing with Wawa, especially around here. Here's a recently opened Sheetz right across the street from Wawa

Maybe because Sheetz is trying to avoid competition with Wawa (or vice-versa)?
I know in the Richmond area Wawa is more dominant there than Sheetz is.

That's really only been the case within the last 5 or so years. Before that the stores were about even, but since then Wawa have been opening a lot more stores around here.
From another thread on Wawa, they are planning to expand to the Carolinas and Georgia.
