Title: Excessive signals for an approach
Post by: Hobart on March 27, 2022, 12:25:12 AM
So, I was doom scrolling Google Maps again in Florida, when I saw this absolutely ridiculous approach.

https://www.google.com/maps/@25.9552528,-80.1464102,3a,76.9y,285.11h,92.49t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1skj0jSqa5w7nW9ZLp40mIxA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

11 signals for the FL-856 approach at this intersection. 5 overhead on the near side, one on the right on the near side, and 5 signals on the far side.

Normally I advocate for good supplemental signals, but this seems a little bit ridiculous, even considering FL-856 is a short freeway connecting to A1A. Have you guys seen anything equally as ridiculous yet?

I think this approach on US 280 at I-459 in Birmingham has more than enough red lights...
