Sikeston would be a logical control, because it's a major interstate junction and the (current) terminus of I-57. But you'd probably end up with Sikeston being signed on I-57 and Memphis being signed on I-55.

How many interstates have intersections where the control city is listed on one of the interstates, but not the other?
Best example I can think of is I-77 and I-81. They intersect at Wytheville and have the infamous wrong-way concurrency, yet Wytheville is listed only as a control city on I-77. It's not used for I-81 (Bristol and Roanoke are).
I-82/I-90 - Ellensburg
I-82/I-84 - Umatilla
I-15/I-40 - Barstow
An easy one to cherry pick right off the top...
Syracuse, NY is used on I-81, but not on I-90.
For many years Dayton was used on I-75 but not I-70 that has been changing recently. Bloomington/Normal is used for I-39 but not I-55 or 74. Lexington Va is used for I-64 but not I-81.
I-43 uses Beloit while I-39 and I-90 don't.
- Evansville is used on I-69 and not used on I-64 (which uses St Louis/Louisville at that point).
- Lodi is used on I-76 and not used on I-71 (which uses Columbus/Cleveland).
- Mercer is used on I-80 and not used on I-79 (which uses Pittsburgh/Erie).
- Wentzville used to be an I-64 only control city, until recently installed APL pullthroughs on I-70 WB in St Charles County uses it.
Brewster: I-684 but not I-84
Newburgh: I-84 but not I-87

Bloomington or Bloomington/Normal are absolutely Controls on I-55 and I-74 in Central Illinois, but only as Secondary Control status, as the Primaries are Chicago and St Louis/55 and Peoria and Indianapolis/74

IDOT uses Evansville IN as a Secondary Control for I-64 EB between Mt Vernon and the Wabash River. I don't think InDOT uses Evansville at all for 64

And I really don't understand why that changed. I've driven the stretch of I-70 between St. Louis and Columbus numerous times - I know that while it goes through the Dayton metro area, it barely brushes up against the north edge of the city itself. I think between Indianapolis and Columbus, in my opinion, Dayton should be a secondary control city at most, with Indy and Columbus being the primaries.
Imo requiring an interstate to go through city limits just to be able to use it as a control city seems very restrictive. Metro area is enough.

I thought about that one but I-64 stays quite to the north of Evansville so I am not sure if that one counts. I just thought of another one that is relatively new. I-165 uses Bowling Green while I-65 does not.
