Here is a photo that just appeared in the local papers showing I-65 under construction from downtown Nashville.

Traffic will be let onto a new section of I-65, shown here Aug. 22, 1972, running from downtown Nashville to Berry Road late next month. But cars will still have to detour from the Melrose area along Franklin Road, at left, and return to the interstate at Harding Place.
There has been a major deviation but you can still see the the 1972 construction that was used as part of the flyover ramp from I-65 south to I-440 west. You can see the same lane was used but in lieu of exiting to Berry Road it now is a ramp over to I-440.
