Former California State Route 248 was a small post-1964 State Highway Renumbering designation of a segment of US Route 66 and early US Route 99 from Pasadena east to Monrovia. Specifically, California State Route 248 originated at California State Route 134 and terminated at Interstate 210 following the Colorado Street Bridge, Colorado Boulevard, Colorado Place and Huntington Boulevard. Much of California State Route 248 was signed as US Route 66 until 1972 and was gradually relinquished between 1986-1992. Wow, I've never heard of this route. I'm pretty good at knowing where most CA routes are located (or were located), but this one has completely slipped my memory. The fact that it covered the Colorado Street Bridge makes it seem like it was one of those routes similar to 275 or 283 where it's really just a way to ensure the bridge is state maintained.
Wow and also CA-248 was there until I-210 was completed. But CA-248 is signed today as Historic US-66 from Monrovia to Pasadena.

The amusing part is that it likely was field signed as CA 66 and never CA 248 aside Postmile paddles.
