[I'll make an appropriate banner for this thread if it takes off]
Welcome! This thread is aimed for users to post their artwork (signature tags, website banners, sculptures, paintings, photography, etc.) while the community responds to such artwork and praises or gives advice to the artwork. Everyone is welcome to post their artwork and participate. I realize that there's a road-related Illustration thread on the General Highway Discussion board, but I thought I'd start a thread that's slightly more general. The purpose of this thread is to allow the community to appreciate one's art as well as allow the artist to grow.
Basic Rules:- Be tactful. That doesn't necessarily mean you have to be 100% positive, but try to be constructive with negative responses. An honest helpful response is more helpful.
- No Spamming. This isn't a +1 post-count thread.
- Keep it clean. No nudes, shock or gore renders please.
- Have fun! :sombrero:
I've done a few traffic signal drawings on MS Paint:

Interesting. I've seen those traffic signals in Marina, CA, on the way to Monterey. :P
For creating them on Paint, they're pretty good; however, the joints are a bit far from the main mast.
Here's one I made on PowerPoint. This is what Washington state tends to use, except I made the road sign something that California would use. (WSDOT is obsessed with using all-caps road signs on traffic signals, and I think they look awful).

I did some mild post-editing with the lighting effects on GIMP.
Anyways, this is completely unrelated to roads, but here's a tag I made on GIMP for a signature tag contest on another forum I go to.

I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with Metroid games, but this is for the upcoming Metroid game Other M.
If I'm lucky, this gets split into its own thread: How about those of us who draw highways artistically? (Edit - I realize many of us enjoy drawing highways, but sometimes my drawings have a certain... flair to them?) (Also, this is as close as I will ever come to being artistic.)

Wow, those are excellent! I pretty much do the same thing, but instead of detailing the roadways, I just make them lines, similar to what you'd see on normal paper maps. I even make blocks to represent buildings/houses! You'd be amazed on how many sketch books I've gone through in the past year or so. May be the next road meet I attend, I'll bring one of the old ones.
Yeah, non-road related pictures are encouraged here. Road related pictures should go in the thread that Big Matt made in the Gen Highway Board.
Speaking of road-related stuff, I just posted something new there. :)

Yes, I attempted to make a highway contest on a chat thread on a Nintendo forum. I would give away forum currency for blokes who guess the road for the picture I posted correctly (I used tinypic so they wouldn't look at the URL). Didn't go over very well. :(

@Big Matt: I recommend focusing on perspectives. On MS Paint, it's a bit hard to do, but you can draw the bases first using one-point perspective and work your way up from there.
Been working on an all-vector card deck in Inkscape. Got the Jack of Diamonds and Queen of Spades done since those are the two that stick out most to me for some reason. Kinda made the Jack look like an alright sort of guy. Decided to go for the "BLUH BLUH HUGE BITCH" factor for the Queen of Spades since she ruins everything in Hearts. :P (Seems like she's usually drawn that way anyway...)
I'm kind of happy with how they've turned out but they seem to be missing something I can't put my finger on. (I only copied the card images over, the pips and card border are cloned objects and it'd be too much of a hassle to break the links etc to copy them over). It might be because I'm using a colored slash to separate the ends of the card from one another instead of having them flow into one another like most English decks do. (A lot of modern European decks use a divider in the middle but also go for more realism.)
I draw game show sets, namely The Price is Right. I use these in forum-based versions of Price that I host on another forum. Occasionally, I integrate road elements into them (namely the fonts- I often use FHWA Series D for price cards and fonts on props). Here is one example- this is my version of one of the oldest pricing games on the show.
Note the sign...someone over there commented about how there was no sign originally (since there's usually a sign hanging from the turntable wall), so the sign on the prop was my response to that. :D
(For anyone curious, the last item on the table is NyQuil.)

In the last 3-4 years that I've "abandoned" roadfan.com, I've been designing posters for concerts in Baton Rouge.

I picked these three due to the amount of work I had to do for each one. It's hard to tell on the middle poster, but I was layering text upon photos
For those of you who "friends" with me on Facebook, I do have an album over there of all my music posters that I've designed.

That photo is AWESOME. I love the progression of colors in the sky from left to right (from the aurora's blues to the sun's oranges and yellows).
it was a dead lucky shot. I had just pulled over by the water to get the city lights behind the hill - and then the aurora appeared!
I have a new avatar. It's probably the first decent-looking animated GIF I've ever made.

This is prolly my favorite picture I've taken of our state flower (Texas Bluebonnet). It was the first time I've taken pictures of bluebonnets. So here ya go I like this one cause it looks somewhat photoshoped so I've been told. And I like the thistle things in the background:

All ways lead to Hell.
I was into photography way back in high school. I mainly shot B&W film and did the developing myself.
Jump forward 10 years and I'm trying to get the hang of it again with my DSLR. Making the mental leap into shooting color was more difficult than I thought.

are there any other elevation signs in California that are not an exact multiple of 1000? (or 100, in the case of the below-sea-level portions of I-8)
from what I remember, the summit signs are one-piece signs with the summit name and elevation all in one.

There are not any majestic beaches on Florida's East Coast with the exception of the red-tinted sand and rocks from Ormond to St. Augustine. The Gulf Coast is much more photogenic.
Okay, I'll go back to my "creation" I'm just saying I don't know anything about how oil refineries work, but I made this on paint. ~Note!!! this is not finished!~:

OK, here's some stuff I did on PowerPoint. I'm sure many of you have noticed that I have drawn some 3D road signs on PowerPoint.
This is a really old art banner I made for a gallery I made on another forum. Yes, I made the bob-omb and Toad on PowerPoint (and it was hell).
