The goal here is to make a list of all 3di in a specific state that are longer than its parent 2di in that state. For example, I-495 in New York State (71 miles) is longer the length of the stretch of I-95 that is in New York (24 miles). No fictional plans can be included here, only real, already existing, designated highways.
EDIT: One clarification. Both measurements are only in one state, the same state. For example, when I compared I-295 and I-95 in NJ, I didn't add on the PA stretch of 295, just the NJ stretch. A 3di that is longer than the 2di because it also goes off into other states doesn't count (although I-295 is still longer than I-95 just even with the Jersey section).
EDIT 2: Yes, the 2 digit one has to actually exist in the state in question. So no "I-238 is longer cause there's no I-38!!" type of posting, thank you!
The most obvious one that immediately comes to mind is I-287 in New Jersey (67.54 miles) versus I-87 in New Jersey (zero miles, does not enter the state).
Actually, a good example in NJ is I-295 and I-95. I-295 is longer than I-95 by less than half a mile in the state of New Jersey (78.4 miles vs 77.96 miles). I'm not counting the western spur as additional miles for I-95 since we are measuring length and not total mileage of pavement. But no, both have to actually exist in the state.
I-495 in MA (120 miles) vs. I-95 in MA (91 miles).
I-76 and I-676 in NJ might also fit this criteria.
(I-76 is 3.4 miles while I-676 is just under 5 miles in NJ).
I-295, I-395, & I-695 in DC (I-495 ties :sombrero:)

The other ones yeah, but 495 is technically mostly in Maryland and Virginia, outside of D.C. boundaries.
Edit: I-95 doesn't even enter D.C. so it doesn't fit these criteria. It goes around on the 495 capitol beltway.
I-535 in Wisconsin at less than 1 mile vs 0 for I-35.
I-275 in Indiana at 3.2 miles vs 0 for I-75.

100% I-95 enters DC on the Wilson Bridge.
Oh it technically does. That must be the shortest stretch of interstate in any state (if you count D.C. as one). You have to zoom all the way in to see it but you're right.
All x78 in NY.

Good one, I'm surprised I didn't think of that one first. Although none of the x78s even connect to 78, but I guess that still counts (I-295 doesn't "connect" with I-95 in NJ but crosses over it).
I-269 in MS: 25.93 miles
I-69 in MS: 23.90 miles
Pretty sure I-587 in NC is longer than I-87 in NC currently is, but of course that will be changing someday.
I believe I-155 spends more time in Tennessee than its parent I-55 in the same state.
In that same light, I-535 in Superior, WI is most certainly longer than is I-35 here in Wisconsin.
Ditto I-129 v. I-29 in Nebraska.

You might want to check on that. I want to say I-878 is shorter.

Technically, I-95 enters DC. But also, technically, DC is not a state.
That said, using the data available here (https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/planning/national_highway_system/interstate_highway_system/routefinder/table01.cfm), I have compiled the following list. I believe it's complete, although I wouldn't be surprised if I missed something.
I-195 (2.00 mi) in District of Columbia is longer than I-95 (0.11 mi).
I-295 (5.20 mi) in District of Columbia is longer than I-95 (0.11 mi).
I-395 (3.88 mi) in District of Columbia is longer than I-95 (0.11 mi).
I-495 (121.56 mi) in Massachusetts is longer than I-95 (91.95 mi).
I-269 (25.93 mi) in Mississippi is longer than I-69 (23.90 mi).
I-676 (4.75 mi) in New Jersey is longer than I-76 (3.04 mi).
I-278 (33.62 mi) in New York is longer than I-78 (0.50 mi).
I-478 (2.14 mi) in New York is longer than I-78 (0.50 mi).
I-495 (66.38 mi) in New York is longer than I-95 (23.50 mi).
I-678 (14.33 mi) in New York is longer than I-78 (0.50 mi).
I-878 (0.70 mi) in New York is longer than I-78 (0.50 mi).
I-587 (37.07 mi) in North Carolina is longer than I-87 (12.90 mi).
I-155 (15.93 mi) in Tennessee is longer than I-55 (12.28 mi).
I-269 (19.20 mi) in Tennessee is longer than I-69 (14.00 mi).
I-238 (2.23 mi) in California is longer than I-38, which does not exist.
I-275 (3.16 mi) in Indiana is longer than I-75, which does not exist there.
I-129 (3.21 mi) in Nebraska is longer than I-29, which does not exist there.
I-287 (67.54 mi) in New Jersey is longer than I-87, which does not exist there.
I-535 (1.21 mi) in Wisconsin is longer than I-35, which does not exist there.
Does DC's "I-195" really count? It is not yet posted, or at least it wasn't as of my most recent trip to Union Station two weeks ago. I would probably count its mileage as part of I-395 and then count I-695 (which, as has been noted, is also longer than DC's portion of I-95).

Yeah, and the same with I-76 in NJ. That may include the Atlantic City Expressway in the future, which would make it not fit this criteria, but we aren't considering fictional proposals here, just strictly what is designated now, even if the roadway is built but not designated yet.

Using Wiki's route lengths
I-78: 0.5 mi
I-478 (Battery Tunnel): 1.7 mi
I-878: 0.7 mi
I-278 and 678 are noticeably much longer than the other 3.
I'm suspicious of that figure for I-78. Being only half a mile long would put the eastern end before it re-emerges from below ground, which is inconsistent with what's depicted on the NHS map (https://hepgis.fhwa.dot.gov/fhwagis/).
I-78 in NY includes the roundabout after exiting the tunnel.
You won't find any in Michigan. The longest 3di is I-196 and the shortest 2di is I-96. I-96 is 112 miles longer than I-196.

Notice he added that later. I at least had a plausible reason for citing an instance where the 2di doesn't enter the state, as at the time he had not clarified.
