For me, this is post number 816, the same number as my home area code.
As you may recall, I created an earlier post about area codes that contain highways of the same number. Well, here's a somewhat related one: corresponding to the area code of the city or town where you live, what is the closest highway with the same number (that is, if the area code doesn't contain the same-numbered highway itself)?
For me, the closest road with the number 816 would be FM 816, which runs west from Wolfe City, Texas, a town northeast of Dallas and southeast of Sherman, near the Oklahoma border - about 400 miles straight-line distance from Kansas City, where I live. As for my fellow forum members, what is the road that's closest to your home area code and happens to have the same number as it? I'm interested to find out more.
My area code is 519.
The closest highway 519 to me is PA 519, which is 544 km / 338 mi driving distance away (closest point is its interchange with I-79).
ON 519 is 1012 km / 629 mi driving distance away, almost double! (closest point is its western end at Highway 17).
EDIT: jayhawkco brought up overlays, so I might as well add those.
For 226, closest highway is NY 226 at I-390 which is 341 km / 212 mi away (PA 226 is a close second at 360 km).
For 548, closest highway is ON 548 at Highway 17 which is 704 km / 437 mi away.
For 382 (future overlay), closest highway is QC 382 at QC 391 which is 576 km / 358 mi away.
Well, I have to answer this in different ways. I didn't change my phone number when I moved, so I currently have a 913 number. But, I'm in the 303/720 area, so:
303 - UT303 which is just southwest of Green River
720 - NV720 way out by Fallon
913 - KY913 outside of Louisville
Mine is 434. That means PA-434 is my closest state route with my area code number.
For me it's FL SR 407. Though FL 407 is within the 321 area code it comes close to it though.
407 is for Orlando but Highway 407 is in Brevard County to the east of it near Titusville.
Though 321 is used also in Orlando, it's primarily the Space Coast that uses it, with 407 exclusively in Orange County which has its borders only two miles from SR 407 in Brevard.
For me it would be Ohio 248, a little over 300 miles.
Mine would be I-805, about 160 miles from home.
Added: The closest match for our new-ish overlay of 820 is, I think, also an Interstate - but much farther away: I-820 in Fort Worth, about 1,450 miles away.
Secondary Route 703 in Fairfax County (Shreve Road) is the closest to me; the end nearest to my house is just over 11 miles away via the most direct route.
My closest one is I-781 in New York to my home area code of 781.
Seemingly FM 559 in Texas, I've actually clinched FL 559.
Using the 602 area code that is still part of my number the closest would be NV 602 on Stewart Avenue in Las Vegas (which I've also clinched).
OH 219 is 194 miles away.
For me I think it's OH 716 (315 miles, which is coincidentally another NY area code).
Northern Nevada's area code is 775.
Nevada has a lot of local state routes in the 700s, but there's no SR 775. SR 774 comes close.
Some Duck Duck Go-ing produces a short Alberta Provincial Highway 775 leading to Beauvais Lake, not far across the border from Montana's Glacier National Park. That one is about 1150 miles distant by road.
In the U.S. I can't find anything closer than Texas FM 775, a little east of San Antonio, roughly 1750 miles by driving.
I believe mine is SR-617, which is apparently located in numerous locales across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Mine is FM 979, which is about 145 miles away in central Texas. Second place goes to LA 979, which would be my closest if I still lived in Louisiana.
KY 812 is just across the river from Evansville in Henderson.
Being adjacent to a route-dense state like Kentucky, it almost feels like cheating.
Not all Virginia counties have a route 804. The closest one to me is Chesterfield's, which is about 10 miles away.
Another option that is relatively close to me is PA-857 in Fayette County, PA. 857 area code being auxiliary to 617.
I actually don't know of any highways numbered 612, 763, or 952. Probably in Kentucky somewhere.
My unofficial 218 home area code though, I only have to go to southern MN for US 218.
My area code is 317 and the nearest state highway would be Ohio's SR 317 in Columbus about 180 miles away.
See Louisiana 985 in West Baton Rouge Parish. It runs a little over a mile along Rosehill Drive from Louisiana 985 southeast of Bueche to Louisiana 415 near Alfords.
[Removed extraneous formatting. -S.]
Pennsylvania Route 989.
With area code 410, nearest road with that same number is MD 410.
About 18 miles from my house, less than 1.5 miles from my place of work.
OH 513 - about 175 miles away
Tennessee Highway 256 is the closest one to Alabama's 256 area code. Its overlay code is 938; Kentucky Highway 938 is the nearest.
CT Area code 860/959:
860
Unsigned: CT SR 860, about 30 miles
Signed: NB 860, about 525 miles
Domestic: FL 860, about 1385 miles
959
Unsigned/Future: AL 959 (future I-422), about 1065 miles
Signed: FL 959, about 1400 miles
Well let's see. My actual area code is 832 but I've had 281 and 713...all Houston area codes.
US 281 is probably the closest. There's an FM 832 in Leon county wherever that is. FM 713 and FM 281 are far too. Dunno about an SH 281. State highways don't go higher than like 365

There is an FM 970 just north of Austin.
I haven't checked to see if I'm closer to KY 606, which is in Nicholas County, or any Virginia secondary 606.
Until Kentucky obtained the 859 area code, KY 606 was actually in the 606 area code.

Yeah, I'm about 12 miles away from that one as the crow flies.
Regarding primary route 804s, Maryland's is the closest.
For 262 (my relatively new area code), I'd have to travel nearly 340 miles to the SSE into southeastern Indiana to join IN State Road 262 which starts in Dillsboro, IN and ends in Rising Sun along the Ohio River. Nearest big city is Cincinatti. And yes, I was surprised to see that I had to go that far to find 262.
Mine appears to be OH 585, about 300 miles away, just south/west of Akron.

Since I'm also in 410, I'll add in the 443 & 667 overlays: PA 443 in Dauphin County north of Harrisburg is ~75 miles away, and MD 667 in Somerset County near Pocomoke City is ~120 miles away. Although Virginia Secondary 667 in Fairfax County is probably closer than MD 667.

401 is easy: RI-401 in East Greenwich/Warwick, RI.
As is Maine. ME 207 is in Scarborough.
New Hampshire and Vermont not so much. The nearest signed Route 603 is the VA one that straddles Fairfax and Loudon County. The nearest signed 802 is MD 802 on Kent Island. CT does have an unsigned SR 603 in Essex, but no 802.
Well, how to answer this... I have an 801 phone number (overlaid with 385), but I now live in 850/448...
801: NC 801 in Mooresville, NC
385: SR 385 in Clarkesville, GA
850: SR 850 in North Palm Beach, FL
448: SR 448 in Sevierville, TN
Maryland Route 410, which is actually in area code 301.
The area code for Mason City, Iowa is 641, so I assume US 641 is it. I still use an area code 402 number from when I lived in the Omaha area, and Ontario Highway 402 is the closest of the highway 402's. (I previously had CO 402, which is by Loveland, listed, but didn't account for the possibility a highway in Canada could be closer.)
The area code in NE texas is 903. FM-903 is about 100 miles from me and still is in the 903 area code.
Area code 430 is overlaid on 903. The closest 430 geographically is I-430 in Little Rock. There is a FM-430 in the Rio Grande Valley and a SL-430 at Littlefield (NW of Lubbock) I-430 in LRA is closer at the farthest point of 903/430 to either of them.
The closest place to Littlefield is Sadler TX (Grayson County just off US-US-82)
Sadler TX to LRA is 311 miles
Sadler TX to Littlefield TX is 343 miles.
Centerville TX to the closest point on FM-430 is 380 miles
Centerville to Little Rock is 368 miles.
Marquez might make a four or five mile difference, but still minimally closer to Little Rock.
Texarkana to LRA is a mere 144 miles.
Texarkana to Littlefield is 513 miles
Texarkana to FM-430 in rural Brooks County TX is around 600 miles.
Leon county (Marquez, Centerville) is the meeting place of four different area codes. Most of Leon County is in 903/430.
Part of it is in 936 (Lufkin)
Brazos County is in 979 (Bryan / College Station)
Limestone County is in 254 (Waco)
Man I must be bored to figure all of this out.
For the other area codes in CT, plus MA
203: Depends on what part of the area you're in. CT 203 is in the northeast part of the state and is closer to the New Haven area. If you're closer to Danbury, NY 203 is closer.
475: PA 475, which is over 300 miles away from most areas
MA
339: Saratoga (NY) CR 339
351: NY 351 (in the Capitol District)
413: NJ/PA 413
508: Unsigned CT SR 508 (I-84 Exit 39); Signed MD 508 in Calvert County
617: Unsigned CT SR 617 in North Stonington; Signed VA 617 Fairfax County edition.
774: LA 774 in LaSalle Parish
781: I-781 (previously stated)
857: PA 857 in Western PA near the WV border
978: 3 different unsigned routes in Bowie, MD; Signed PA 978 in Allegheny County
I live in Wichita, which is in area code 316. It looks like (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highways_numbered_316#United_States) a near dead heat between Iowa SR 316 near Runnells and Texas FM 316 near Payne Springs, the former being closer by about 22 miles.
Looks like Texas is fertile ground for 3-digit highways that match area codes.
My area code is 972 and there is an FM 972 in Central Texas near Georgetown, east of I-35.
The Upper Peninsula is area code 906, and the closest highway to us would be in Pennsylvania.
Area Code 586
Closest is OH-586 in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Area Code 336. The nearest highway is SC 336 in Ridgeland SC. 282 miles away via US 220 to US 1 to US 52 to Interstate 95
Area Code 734. Looks like the winner for me is Ohio's Route 734. I've been on part of it, from the 1-71 interchange west to Jamestown.
The closest 405 to area code 405 is FM 405 in Walker County, TX.
Area code 360 (Western WA) is a mere 551 miles away from NV 360 as the crow flies from its southernmost point (near Camas, WA).
Louisiana state highway 985 is a 1.2-mile route in West Baton Rouge Parish, and is 88 miles from my home in da 985.
I live in the 513 area code, but have a 614 number.
513 - OH 513 - 165 miles
614 - VA secondary route 614 in Dickenson County(?) - 181 miles
I live in area code 501.
Mississippi State Highway 501 is 233 miles as the crow flies from where I live.
I grew up in area code 253.
Closest to me is California State Route 253. At its north-eastern terminus near Ukiah, it's about 560 miles as the crow flies from Tacoma.
Oregon is 503/971, the closest is WA-503 at around 70 miles but if you live in Columbia City, OR it's only 3.5 miles.
The closest 971 seems to be Oregon County Road 971 at around 200 miles (surprised there was one in the state), but the closest state routes are FM-971 in Texas (1700 miles) or PR-971 (3800 miles!!).
Any Route 856s within 1,000 miles of South Jersey appear to be small, minor roads, maybe in Virginia or the Carolinas.
My former area code before it was split in the 1990's, 609, would've featured at least two County Route 609 within the area code itself, since 6xx routes can repeat throughout the state.

We both live in an area covered by both 703 and 571. I have a smartphone with a 571-xxx-xxxx number, in addition to a landline with a 703-xxx-xxxx number.
Route 571s are harder to come by. The closest I could find is county route 571 in Mercer County, New Jersey, along the New Jersey Turnpike. It's about 187 miles northeast of me, and a little farther away from you. As for state highways, the closest one might be Ohio state route 571, near Dayton, about 460 miles away from me.
It's about 600 miles to I-630 in the Little Rock area. I think that's the closest 630. (I live barely in 815, but I got my first cell phone in Aurora when I was a teenager.)

614/380 here. I'm guessing one of the bazillion VA 614 versions is closest. Maryland has one as well, but Virginia probably has one closer. OH 380 is much closer, with one end being in Xenia, less than an hour away.
Closest 845 is unsigned MD-845, while the closest signed route is PA-845.

I think KY 513 is closer to Cincinnati that OH 513.
NY 315...which also happens to reside in the 315 area code.
Well living in the 717/223 area code leads to MD 223 and MD 717, which are quite close to each other along MD 4.
The closest to me is another Texas route, FM-925 about 1,500 miles away. Other farther options are in Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Puerto Rico. If I'm willing to go international, there is also one is Saskatchewan.
Mine would be OH 515, some 625 miles from home.
IA 319, which was decommissioned in 1980, existed near the town of Gravity in southwest Iowa, which is actually in the 712 area code (319 serves eastern Iowa). Iowa never had any state highways numbered 515, 563, 641, or 712.
Looks like mine (708 area code) would be Ohio State Route 708, 257 miles from home
It's going to be State Route 515 in Ohio at around 700 miles.
- Alberta Highway 515 is nearly 1300 miles
- Interstate 515 (for now) is about 1400 miles
I live in the 215 area code in southeast Pennsylvania, the closest Route 215 to here is in Virginia. I also have 267 and 445 as overlay area codes. The closest routes with those numbers are in Maryland.
For the 714 area code, it's Texas FM 714 near Brady, approximately 1,090 miles away.
For the 657 overlay, it's Texas FM 657 near Santa Anna, TX (not Santa Ana, CA), approximately 1,100 miles away.
For the 949 area code used on my only telephone, it's Texas FM 949 near Eagle Lake, approximately 1,300 miles away.
The runners up respectively appear to be in Centerville, OH, Riceville, LA, and Penrod, KY.
Well, Farm to Market roads sure are our savior.
Closest, and seemingly the only 919 highway is FM 919, in Palo Pinto County. 919 however is overlayed with 984, and MD 984, an unsigned service road in Ellicott City, is significantly closer.
Is this supposed to be the area code of where I live (in which case it's already been answered), or the area code of my phone (which is not the area code of where I live)?
Or, to put it in terms of xkcd comics:

Well, perhaps you should petition CDOT to designate one of the Denver-area freeways - either the Denver-Boulder Turnpike or Peña Boulevard (the freeway leading to the airport) - as I-970. Either road would be an ideal candidate for that number, in my opinion - the other road could be either I-570 or I-770.

Is this supposed to be the area code of where I live (in which case it's already been answered), or the area code of my phone (which is not the area code of where I live)?
Or, to put it in terms of xkcd comics:

Funnily enough the area code of my cell phone doesn't match where I've ever lived exactly, at least since the number was issued. By the time I got cell service 856 was separated from 609, but for some reason they went with 609 anyway, and while I've lived in 732 and 973 since then, before moving back to 856, I've never lived in 609.
Area Code 231. M-231 lies just a few miles past the area code's southern boundary.
Area code 401, there is a route 401 in RI (kinda far from where I live)
