Save the Date!
As part of the Harford County 250th Anniversary Celebration in 2023, I am hosting a webinar/virtual tour as well as an in-person roadmeet with in-person driving tour of US 1, US 40, and some other fun Harford County road and bridge gems (such as the Jericho Covered Bridge). It's a collaboration between the MDRoads.com family (me, Mike, and Rainee) and RoadwayWiz (Dan Murphy) and being advertised by the Harford250 and the Historical Society of Harford County (so hopefully there will be local history buffs there, too!)
Webinar and Virtual Tour: Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 6 pm at YouTube.com/roadwaywiz
Roadmeet: Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Noon (start location TBD, although it will most likely be in Havre de Grace, MD)
I'll add more details as I nail down the restaurant and route. Stops will be road and bridge related as well as local history related.
Yay!!!!!!
Would this be the first time that a meet gets incorporated into a larger community event?
The Mentor, OH meet in 2018 had a public presentation given by Brian Farr on Historic US 20 at James A. Garfield National Historical Site as part of the meet!!!

Interested!
Oh no! I had to have my second round of vacation requests in the week after Thanksgiving. I am going to see my brother in DC but I ended up going with mid-April instead. I'm sorry I won't be able to make it.
I doubt I can make this, I will be in central Pennsylvania a couple weeks prior but don't plan to be in town that long
Noting the dates in my calendar. I might be able to swing this one.
This meet is still happening - need to finalize some details and will announce everything by the end of the week.
I am planning to be there, but I will be heading to my parents' after the meet as I have a friend being married near Richmond, VA, on May 7th.
Got my room booked and routes roughed out!

Since you had to book a hotel room for this -- and if you want to/can stay a little bit, last fall's Philly meet (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=30517.0) is fairly easy to DIY either before or after Laura's meet. Philly is only about an hour and a half north of Havre de Grace.
edit: I now see you're in NJ, so you might have been there.

I was at Philly but will be taking the opportunity (or crisitunity depending on the Balt-Wash traffic) to do some other area roads before and after.

Since when is August fall?
Since my memory failed me and I thought that meet happened in late September.

Hi friends, I finally created a facebook event page (https://fb.me/e/2xzOS3lPY) as well as an eventbrite page (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-history-of-us-1-us-40-in-harford-county-md-a-harford-250-road-meet-tickets-615042126557) for people who aren't on facebook or on AARoads!
Details:
Join us for an informal lunch at 12 pm (pay for your own meal) at Cheaspeake Grille, 913, Pulaski Highway, Havre de Grace, MD. As part of the road meet tradition, attendees gather together to socialize before the tour to talk about anything and everything, including roads, bridges, and their history!
You can also join us directly at the start of the tour at 1:45 pm outside of the Lock House Museum, 817 Conesteo St, Havre de Grace, MD.
The tour will include several stops along the two highways as well as some stops in between! The tour will start with US 40 (as well as parts of MD 7) and go from Havre de Grace to Joppa. Then we will travel on back roads to get to US 1 (which includes a visit to the Jericho Covered Bridge!) We will take US 1 and US 1 Business from Fallston to the Conowingo Dam. Then, as we return to Havre de Grace, we will stop in Susquehanna State Park to see the original toll house and crossing across the Susquehanna River.
More info to be added (including tour itinerary) closer to event date!
I'm not going to make it to this meet. I've got friends in Half a Disgrace, but I've never been to the Chesapeake Grill. Last time I was down there, we ate at La Cucina.
I plan on attending.
In preparation for the upcoming Harford County, MD Road Meet to be held on Saturday, May 6, my next installment in the "Virtual Tour" series is scheduled to take place on Saturday (4/22) at 6 PM ET. Come join me and members of the AARoads community as we profile US Highways 1 & 40 across Harford County, MD and discuss the history and features of these highways all while enjoying a real-time virtual video trip along their lengths within the county.
A link to the event location can be found below and we look forward to seeing you in attendance:
Hey folks, since we're now less than a week away from meet time, I'd like to see us start to narrow down a final head count for our event next Saturday. If you have not already RSVPed, please do so, either here or on our event's Facebook page, the link to which will be included below. Thanks in advance, and looking forward to seeing all of you next weekend!

Once again, if you're joining us for lunch, we'll meet at 12 PM at the Cheaspeake Grille, 913 Pulaski Highway, Havre de Grace, MD. You can also join us directly at the start of the tour at 1:45 pm outside of the Lock House Museum, 817 Conesteo St, Havre de Grace, MD.
Please count me in, for both lunch and the tour. I'm not on Facebook, so I'm RSVP'ing here.
I've had to bail out of some other recent meets due to assorted aches and pains. But those have been subsiding over the past week, and I should be able to manage at least a day trip.
Sorry for the late reply. Count me in for both lunch & the tour.
Unfortunately, I have to cancel due to a scheduling conflict.
I believe I'm still just marked as "interested" on the FB event.
Count me in for now, possibly +1, both for the lunch and the tour.
Hi everyone, sorry for the delay, here is the itinerary: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k9bhsia70d6snon/Harford%20250%20Meet%20Itinerary%2005062023%20v3.pdf?dl=0
I will bring printed copies to the meet.
