Quartzsite is located along Interstate 10 and US Route 95 in the Sonoran Desert of La Paz County, Arizona. Main Street in Quartzsite historically is tied to the corridors of US Route 60 and US Route 70. This blog will examine the history of highway designations in Quartzsite with special emphasis on placed on US Route 60 and US Route 70.

US 60 and US 70 may be long gone from their former routes paralleling Interstate 10, but as everyone knows, US 60's exits further east are still numbered as if US 60 still went to the Arizona/California border. Is the reason for this because US 60 was truncated to its current terminus in 1969 (along with US 70 west of Globe), but it wasn't officially truncated until 1982? It kind of reminds me of US 163 one state north. US 163 was truncated to its current terminus in 1981, replaced by an extension of US 191, but the 163 truncation was officially recognized until 2008.
