Don't remember seeing a similar topic, and performed a search that came up empty, so here goes:
In what states have you traveled EVERY mile of Interstate Highway?
For me there are six, as follows:
Hawaii
Illinois
Kansas
New Mexico
North Dakota
Rhode Island
States where I'm close:
Arizona (lacking the westernmost stretches of I-10 and I-40)
Missouri (need the new Bella Vista Bypass and I-155)
Nebraska (all but I-76 and I-129)
Oklahoma (less than 25 miles, most of which is I-240)
Itching to hit the road again...
For me, it is currently VA, WV, MD, DC, DE, PA, and NJ.
Oregon
Hawaii
California
Washington
- California
- Hawaii
- Nevada
- Utah
- Arizona
- New Mexico
- Colorado
- Florida
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Nebraska
Wyoming
Colorado
Maine
Closest:
North Dakota and Iowa (only need a handful of I-29 mileage in both)
I believe I have all of Michigan, with the possible exception of I-69 between Flint and Port Huron - I can't remember if I went that way or not. (I don't keep track of clinches, mainly because I was driving for 2-3 decades before I ever became aware of the hobby.)
Delaware
CT and DE. Just need I-195 for RI
Um... https://travelmapping.net/user/system.php?units=miles&u=duke87&sys=usai
Sooooo: AK, AZ, CT, DC, DE, HI, MA, MD, ME, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OK, PA, RI, VA, VT, WV, WY
21 states + DC
Though I will lose NV once the approved extension of 11 or 215 gets signed
New Hampshire is the only one for me.
100% Clinched:
Delaware
Rhode Island
Almost Clinched:
Alabama (missing two sections of I-459 (between I-20/59 and I-65 and between I-20 and I-59) and I-85)
Nebraska (missing I-680 north of Dodge/US 6)
South Dakota (missing a section of I-29 between Sioux City and Sioux Falls)
Wyoming (missing two sections of I-25 (south of Cheyenne and between WY 259 and Buffalo))
DC, DE, MD, NJ, PA, SC, VA, WV
Close:
FL - missing I-110
ID - missing 3 miles of I-15
MT - missing I-115 and 20 miles of I-15
NE - missing 3dis plus I-76
NC - had it all at one point but large expansions give me some gaps
Delaware (39 miles; my first completed state - as if it is tough to clinch)
District of Columbia (12 miles)
Maryland (501 miles; my current residence)
Virginia (1117 miles)
West Virginia (539 miles)
Closest:
New Hampshire (93% of 224 miles) - only need the two 3dis - I-293 and I-393
Pennsylvania (88% of 1871 miles) - only need I-79 north of I-80, I-90, I-86, and a few 3dis, most near Pittsburgh
South Carolina (85% of 863 miles) - only need two segments of I-26 and a few 3dis
Bonus List: (Furthest from clinching with non-zero mileage)
Louisiana (1% of 950 miles)
California (3% of 2485 miles)
My 13 100%'s and 12 others over 90%, copied and pasted fresh from TM (https://travelmapping.net/user/system.php?units=miles&u=terescoj&sys=usai)

PA is close; I still need I-70 west of I-79. After that, the percentages drop off quick. VA is the only other one above 2/3, and WV, FL, ME, and GA are the others above half.

I had Tennessee until I-269 was signed.
Just Utah and Georgia.
All that stands between me and a Colorado finish is two miles of I-25 in Trinidad. Also quite close in Nebraska (missing I-480 and I-680 in Omaha) and Idaho (missing I-90).
For all the exploring I've done in my home states of Massachusetts, Oregon, and California, and nearby Rhode Island and Washington, and for all the cross-country trips I've taken (17), the only state I've clinched the Interstates in is Nevada. I guess that's because freeways are the last roads I'm usually interested in clinching, preferring the smaller state highways.
I expect to finish the few Bay Area Interstate segments that I've missed in the next month or so, though.
Only Washington and Oregon so far, and the latter took until just recently. I got a good start on Utah, doing 43% in a three-day span during a trip last year.
I have all of my home state of Iowa and that's it. I accomplished that before officially becoming a resident in 2016, although it took until 2021 before I have driven on all of it.
Massachusetts
Connecticut
Rhode Island
Delaware for sure - not that difficult. Most of Nevada except for parts of its 3dis. I can think of several states (mainly in the West) where I've been on every interstate, but haven't clinched all of them.
I'm still at zero. Even in Delaware, I shunpiked that toll.
Very close to clinching Arizona and New Mexico.
In AZ, I lack I-40 west of Kingman and east of Sanders.
In NM all I've left is I-40 west of Albuquerque and east of Santa Rosa.
I did have Texas before I-2.
New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, a handful of others I lack one or two. (Does I-15 in Arizona even count?)
I've also clinched Delaware.
100%: Indiana, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, DC
Wisconsin - missing only I-535
Kentucky - missing only I-69 south of I-24 and I-165 south of WK Pkwy
Ohio - missing I-77 north of US 30 and some of the 3di in the Cleveland and Columbus areas
100% of the Interstates: Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Mississippi, Rhode Island, and Tennessee.
I'm over 95% completed in: Georgia (a chunk of I-20 in Augusta), West Virginia (I-70 in Wheeling), Maryland (a section of I-83 in Baltimore), and New Jersey (I-295 from US 130 to US 40)
Me?
Likely only Delaware and Wisconsin.

None. The only segments I'm missing in Colorado are I-70 east of Limon and I-225.
Fully clinched Oregon interstates.
In Washington, I'm just missing the little bit of I-90 between Spokane and the Idaho border.
