What concerts have you guys been to? I've seen Iron Maiden, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Tool, Tricky, Blur, Wesley Willis, Tori Amos, Chevelle, Evanescence, N.E.R.D., Dinosaur Jr, Failure, BT, Moby, Talib Kweli, Snoop Dogg, and many more. I went to a bunch of festivals back in the mid to late 90s and I saw a lot of great bands, and a lot of mediocre bands that way. I'm going to see Ween tomorrow night, and I'm seeing the Smashing Pumpkins next month. I may see Nevermore and Stone Temple Pilots soon as they're both coming to Tulsa.
Dam you have been to a ton Jeremy!
My first concert was seeing Nirvana, L7, The Breeders at the Cow Palace in S.F. in 1993. Went to the "Y100 Feztival" in 1997 (Y100 is a defunct alt rock station from Philly) and saw a slew of bands. Most notably in how good they were were Toad the Wet Sprocket and Beck. I was busy arguing with my g/f during the performance of Lucious Jackson, so I don't recall anything from them unfortunately. Wasted time seeing Selloutica in 1998. Haven't been to one in ages... Local bands are more of what I have seen instead.
first concert was a 1989 show featuring an unheard of band called Star Darts... first major show was 1994, Rolling Stones on the Voodoo Lounge tour.
seen about 300-400 shows since then, mostly between 2001 and 2003...

You're lucky that you got to see Nirvana.
I saw Metallica twice, in 1992 and 1994. The 1992 show was the first concert I've ever been to. I've also seen Beck twice.
I should sit down and make a list of all the bands I've seen live. I'm guessing it's well over 50. I probably couldn't remember them all. I did see some bands that I'm almost embarrassed to admit, like Smash Mouth (I saw them at a festival in Memphis, and they were
awful.)
I'm going to assume that a few local bands putting on a show in somebody's basement, the back of a bar, or some other tiny little venue doesn't count (I've certainly been to plenty of those). Then we have those concerts I went to in Tompkins Square Park... larger scale, but still just a bunch of local acts recognizable only by people "in the scene".
Now, if you're talking about concerts focusing on one particular big act, this is my list:
- Third Eye Blind
- World/Inferno Friendship Society
- They Might Be Giants
- Smash Mouth
- Sugar Ray
- Rush
-Queen + Paul Rodgers
-The Who
-Elton John/Billy Joel
-Neil Young
-Jon Anderson
My first show was a Stevie Nicks concert in Baltimore in 1986. I've also seen Fleetwood Mac, Phil Collins and Genesis (separate shows). I have to admit that my wife dragged me to Barry Manilow and Richard Marx shows . . .
Actual concerts I've seen:
- Joshua Redman
- Magnolia Electric Co. (twice)
- Aimee Mann (twice)
- Stevie Wonder
- Billy Joel
- Steely Dan/Michael McDonald (twice)
- Counting Crows/The Fray

Somehow I've never seen the Foo Fighters. I'd like to but it just hasn't happened.
I saw Ween tonight. It was badass. Those guys are severely fucked up.
Generally the only concerts I go to are the ones the casino I work at have where I'm actually interested in the bands. I've seen Styx and REO Speedwagon that way. (It's kind of funny to go be in the audience at concerts when you know all the people running the venue. I remember at the end of the Styx concert they shot off confetti cannons, and the housekeeping managers caught my eye, standing the corner, mouths agape with shock.) In addition I saw Chicago and America put on a concert at the Zoo amphitheatre.
I'm not a big concertgoer, but I have been to a few concerts of popular artists. I went to a Huey Lewis & the News concert in 1987(yeah, that really dates me). I went to a Billy Joel concert in the mid 90s. Also in the early 2000s I went to an 80s retro concert that featured the Human League, Culture Club and Howard Jones.
I went ahead and wrote down all the bands I can remember seeing...there were some openers that I don't remember but this list is as close to complete as I can remember:
Metallica, Pearl Jam, Urge Overkill, Pop Will Eat Itself, Nine Inch Nails, Suicidal Tendencies, Candlebox, Sonic
Youth, Hole, Cypress Hill, Pavement, Elastica, The Jesus Lizard, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Prodigy, Tool, Snoop
Dogg, Tricky, James, the Marleys, Failure, Moby, Beck, The Roots, Blond Redhead, Cowboy Mouth, K's Choice, Ben Folds Five, Blur, Fiona Apple, Seven Mary Three, Garrison Starr, Neilson Hubbard, Spoon, Smash Mouth, Lazlo Bane, Tori Amos, Iron Maiden, Evanescence, Chevelle, Finger Eleven, Dinosaur Jr, N.E.R.D., Talib Kweli/Reflection Eternal,
Bassnectar, Ween, BT, Puya, Fugazi, Marcy Playground, Wesley Willis, Matchbox 20, Dave Matthews Band, Cherri Bomb, Pretty Black Chains, Smashing Pumpkins.
So my guess was right, about 50 bands/artists. Most of the shows I went to were between 1994 and 2000. If I remember any others I'll come back and edit this post.
DISCLAIMER: I by no means like every band that I've seen. For example: Cowboy Mouth and Smash Mouth were both horrible (what is it with "Mouth" bands?) And I hate reggae, so I didn't enjoy the Marleys at all (I think I walked off and did something else while they were on stage.) Most of the bands I've seen, however, were good. I consider myself very fortunate to have seen as many bands as I have, especially being from a small town in Arkansas that wouldn't know culture if it smacked them upside the head. When I was living there, I'd often drive 3-5 hours to go to a show. Now that I live in Tulsa, there are several venues within a 15-20 minute drive from my apartment. I like living in the (small) city so much more than living in a small secluded town.
Well, I worked at nightclub for 3 years so I've seen plenty of bands.
I haven't been to a lot of concerts...
* Roger Waters (from Pink Floyd)
* Joe Satriani (2 times)
* Marillion (British prog-rock band)
* Within Temptation (Dutch symphonic-rock band)
* Toto
* Scorpions
* Steve Vai

I saw the same line-up in concert, but it was in the summer of 1998. Free tickets thanks to my employer at the time.
I haven't been to any. The only one this year that I was interested in was Broken Bells in Shoreline (Mountain View).

I don't blame Kek. It wasn't till I was 21 that I went to my first concert. I've been trying to make up for lost time in the 15 years since. lol.
Smashing Pumpkins were AWESOME. The show was heavy as fuck. Almost like a metal show.

I've only been to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert, which is a trip in itself. It was cool too, because some time during the show, Roger Daltrey came out and it was a quazi-Who concert.

You'll get to see them one day. I waited 16 years to see them. It will be worth it in the end.

I haven't been to a lot of concerts...
* Within Temptation (Dutch symphonic-rock band)
I know Dennis, the old drummer of Within Temptation. I used to talk to him on ICQ a lot back in the day.
I have tickets to see the Deftones in Oklahoma City on April 28, and Paul McCartney in Tulsa on May 30th. This will be my first time seeing either artist.
I saw the Deftones with Godsmack several years ago. Awesome show. Hope your experience with the Deftones is the same as mine. I've never seen Paul McCartney, but I would go see him.
I never knew this thread existed until you necroed it. I've been to a lot of concerts too...way too many for me to think to list, so I'll do that in a later post. I must leave for work soon.

Cher - Grand Rapids, MI in November 2004
Lady GaGa - Grand Rapids, MI in March 2011
NKOTBSB (New Kids On The Block & the Backstreet Boys) - Grand Rapids, MI in May 2011
The only big concert I went to was Korn in April 2000. I was in 8th grade at the time. My stepdad played in a couple local bands (guitar/backing vocals) so I saw a couple of his shows in high school. I went years without listening to musicians who played concerts so I haven't been to any since, but I'd like to see the Hives next time they're in the area.
I doubt I can remember every concert I've been to, but I'll try.

Paul Simon and Brian Wilson (shared bill)
Simon & Garfunkel

Cher (ugh....Ms1995hoo dragged me to that one)
Bryan Adams (won free tickets from a radio station....actually a really good show)
Billy Joel and Elton John (one of their "Face to Face" shows....funny show, Elton John's piano malfunctioned and he stormed off the stage, came back later after they fixed it)
Billy Joel (his own tour)
Shania Twain (x2)
Probably some others as well.

I know I'm forgetting a few concerts, and at 33 I'm far from done with attending shows. And as one can see, I have a well rounded taste in music.
There's no way I could list all the gigs I've been to. I've been to Bonnaroo twice and SXSW twice.
Here's a partial list (i.e. the ones I can remember off the top of my head) of the concerts I've attended over the years.
1974 Gordon Lightfoot, Symphony Hall Boston, MA
1976 Emmylou Harris, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Hockey City, Danvers, MA
1979 Arlo Guthrie, Arboretum Boston, MA (free concert)
1983 Harry Chapin, Symphony Hall Boston, MA (last Boston performance before he died)
1983 Tom Rush, Northeastern University - Boston, MA
1984 Carole King, Berklee Performance Center, Boston, MA (benefit for Gary Hart)
1984 Tom Rush, Symphony Hall Boston, MA (one of his first "Club 57 format shows don't recall the other performers)
1989 Carole King, Opera House Boston, MA ("City Streets tour was "kick-off concert for the Opera House restoration project)
1999 Judy Collins, Jonathan Edwards, Tom Rush, and Christine Lavin, outdoor concert in Manchester, NH (can't recall the park name - benefit concert for New Hampshire Children's Services)
2000 Bill Staines, North Kingstown High School Kingstown, RI
2000 Tom Rush, Andover High School, Andover, MA ("Club 57 format show don't recall the other performers)
2012 Tom Rush, The Narrows- Fall River, MA
I recall that all these concerts were excellent. However, the best concert in this list - a tie between the 1999 Manchester NH benefit and Carole King's 1989 "City Streets" concert in Boston. Arlo Guthrie's free concert in Boston in 1979 is a close second.
Missed Carole King's 2004 Living Room Tour performance in Boston because the tickets were sold out by the time I found out about it (and I absolutely refuse to do business with ticket resellers). I chose not to go to the 2011 Carole King/James Taylor tour when it was in Boston because I felt the venue (TD Garden) didn't justify the ticket prices.
On Wednesday, I drove to the Downstream Casino near the KS/OK/MO tripoint and close to the end of US 166 and the Will Rogers Turnpike to see a free Cody Canada and the Departed gig. Cody Canada was lead singer and guitarist for Oklahoma legends Cross Canadian Ragweed. On Thursday, I saw Sir Paul McCartney at the BOK center in downtown Tulsa. Two awesome shows in two days.
Grateful Dead (16x), and about 10 or solo/post Jerry shows. Opening acts included: Dylan, Sting, Steve Miller, Little Feat, CSN
Rush (5x)
Stones (2x)
Rod Stewart (2x, before he went American Songbook)

Black Crowes
Three Dog Night
Roger McGuinn
My first real concert was INXS at Giants Stadium in 1987. Lots of shows in College including Lollapalooza in 1991 and 1992 in Orlando. when Hurricane Andrew. I don't recall much of the Pixies in Tampa because I was drinking the whole ride from Jacksonville. ( stupid I know) Most recent was Old Crow Medicine Show at Mavericks in Jacksonville
The only concert I've been to was back in 2006 at the Adams Center on the University of Montana campus where Trace Adkins and Buddy Jewel performed with a few friends and my step-parents.
