Anyone remember these old signs?

The NY 259 example was not far from me and I drove past it for years. I had seen others over the years but all the ones I knew of are long gone. I think they date to the 1950s
when I was a kid there was one of those in Bethpage for NY 135 by the Exit 9 onramp. It's long gone
Probably still some on NY 52 where it's county-maintained.

Here's one (https://www.google.com/maps/@41.6255198,-74.8752135,3a,17.5y,257.61h,85.53t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sDz6H_YVw7OS6-z2zTDsGcw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!5m1!1e1?) on Sullivan CR-12 (NY-55), but it doesn't look all that old. Sullivan County still installs some strange signs...
This one (https://www.google.com/maps/@41.6261554,-74.8741236,3a,19.2y,261.54h,89.69t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s-YOdhcC95AKQ72C4qlrXUQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!5m1!1e1) nearby does look pretty old though. I think I remember seeing a few more when I clinched NY-52 and NY-55.
I have one on my wall (NY 387).
About 10 years ago, there was an old cutout NY 49 sign at the east end of Haskins Rd (CR 54A) where it met old NY 49, south of Vienna and west of New London.
