During Christmas weekend 2023 (Friday, December 22nd to Monday, December 25th), will you be:
- Stay Home
- Keep the trip local (within a reasonable distance from home)
- Head out of town
Both of the first two. We used to travel to Florida to visit relatives, but we have not done so since my father died because we don't feel right leaving my mother alone for Christmas. We alternate with her hosting Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas dinner; this year, we hosted Thanksgiving, so we are going over to her house for Christmas dinner but we will otherwise be at home (although we are also taking my mom out to dinner on Saturday night at a French restaurant we all like that goes over the top with Christmas lights). She lives about 12 miles from us via the most direct route.

We have a family friend who has a house just west of Salida, CO. So, my wife, my son, and I will be meeting my BIL and SIL to hang out there and do some skiing. Normally my MIL and FIL come as well, but my father-in-law just had back surgery, so those two are out this year.

Both of the first two.
Same here, while wishing for the third.
Why is this not a poll?
Go hike somewhere away from people.
Local, visiting my mother and grandmother 30 miles away
Local, although a trip to pick up some specialty cat food may be in order for Saturday.
I get Monday, Tuesday, and Friday as holidays. I'm tentatively planning to take Wednesday and Thursday off and hope to be able to check out the new extension of the King Coal Highway (WV 108) at Bluefield next week.
55 miles each way to my roommate's father's house on Christmas day.
Staying home in Seattle, but I'll be hosting my wife's family as well as my daughter's fiancé for Christmas and New Year's, respectively.
I'm in Oakland Airport right now, changing planes on the way home from the Big Island. December 20 being the day when the slower season between Thanksgiving and Christmas ends and prices over there double, which is precisely why that week was chosen for the trip. I'll be within a few miles of home for the rest of 2023 and into 2024.
Local, I'll probably go to my extended family's annual Christmas party about 10 miles away on the 23rd.
Staying home with family.
I will be head out of town, which is where I am already. I don't really spend any time in Texas when I don't have to be there.
Head outta town.
Driving from Maryland to Florida to:
1) Visit family
2) Drive VA 319 to raise my "lowest numbered highway not driven"
Staying local and alone with the pup this year. Did the Colorado to Ohio to visit extended family/friends last year but I just couldn't steel myself for a long road trip over the holidays this year.
Technically, my parents live out of town. But it's Bel Aire, so it's basically Wichita.
Staying home, our kids are traveling here to be with us.
Staying home, my family's house almost always hosts Christmas.
Because of rain in the DFW forecast, my mother and I are staying home Friday through Sunday, but may be heading up to the Oklahoma casinos on Monday with the dry weather.
Local. Most of my family lives around here. I've never left the state for a family event, holiday or otherwise.
Mostly staying home, probably will make local trips to visit my parents and Mrs. wanderer's sister and family. I started a new job this year and it's the first time I have the week between Christmas and New Year off work, so I'll probably do a day roadtrip or two during the week. Maybe wander down to the western section of the Ohio Turnpike west of Toledo to see if the new tolling system is finally turned on.
yes
My original plan was to visit family in south central PA, about 2-3 hours from home, for Christmas Eve. However, that gathering was postponed a few days due to illness of the hosts, so I'm at home this weekend.
With the recent marriage of one of my nieces, which obligates her to make separate holiday visits to her husband's family about three hours in another direction, we've had to be flexible about sticking to the calendar.
I work in retail, and I'll be closing down the store on Christmas Eve, spending the holiday itself with family and back to work the following day.

So...you posted this at about 2 am EST. You talking about next year already?

Trip is local in my case but I have to share I-80 with those heading to Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Reno, San Francisco and Napa for Christmas and New Years.
