"Alma Mayor John Ballentine believes the Alma portion is likely to be the last leg of the still-unfunded highway completed because of the costly bridge that must span the Arkansas River.
He's also griping because Alma may not get its own exit off I-49 at US 64 (too close to I-40, Right of Way concerns at the railroad).
Eclipsing reports of the occasional sighting of the multi-film inspiring Fouke Monster (of "Legend of Boggy Creek" fame) (http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://library.thinkquest.org/TQ0313187/boggeycrk/boggy.jpg&imgrefurl=http://library.thinkquest.org/TQ0313187/&h=640&w=480&sz=85&tbnid=sdav4g9Wq3i7GM:&tbnh=259&tbnw=194&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfouke%2Bmonster&zoom=1&q=fouke+monster&hl=en&usg=__ORh1MKf9_ITmjDk9C0WhGK5Samg=&sa=X&ei=dTCKTPqPIoKU8gTpuoyVBg&ved=0CB4Q9QEwAQ), farther up Arkansas' Future I-49 route around Alma came a report that Alma Mayor Ballentine issued a roadgeek challenge. When asked about AHTD's lack of a planned interchange where I-49 will meet U.S. 64, Mayor Ballentine, through his official spokesman Mr. Yardley, issued the challenge to roadgeeks everywhere by saying the following:
"Yardley said Alma has petitioned the Highway Department for a review of the plan.
"I don't know of any other situation where a major highway crosses another highway and there is no interchange," he said." (http://www.swtimes.com/news/article_6553403c-bc23-11df-8998-001cc4c002e0.html)
Let me slightly rephrase the challenge. Looking at a given state's section of a 2di, which crossing has the most egregious lack of an interchange?
For those more inclined to the "big picture", for a given multi-state 2di, what is the "one" most important highway, on a national scale, that crosses the 2di that lacks an intersection?
Will the answers aid Alma's quest for a U.S. 64 interchange, or simply add Alma to a long list of wannabes?
I know an angle on this topic has been looked at before.
The first thing that always comes to mind are the numerous non-connections with the Pennsylvania Turnpike and its Northeast Extension. I won't bother to list them all at this time.
For example, I-99 doesn't connect with the Turnpike at its south end and, for the moment, lacks a true interstate level connection on the north end making I-99 possibly the only 2di that does not connect with another interstate highway.

I'm a relative "newbie". If this topic has been thoroughly hashed out in previous thread(s), should I go ahead and "kill" this one?
Take a look at this: Highways that don't intersect with other signed highways (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=3276.0)
and decide for yourself.

Friendly mod, please delete this thread. Too close to topic on another thread. Rookie mistake. :sombrero:
No need to be as harsh as to delete it.
