Title: Cape Coral Bridge Replacement
Post by: Plutonic Panda on March 23, 2024, 04:57:13 AM
The Cape Coral Bridge in Florida is to be replaced with construction starting in 2026. The number of lanes will be expanded from 2 each way to 3. A pedestrian crossing will also be added.

Here's the project website: https://capecoralbridgeproject.com/

A news article on it: https://www.roadsbridges.com/bridge-construction/news/33039298/cape-coral-bridge-looking-at-2026-construction-date

And another news article with some renderings as to the pedestrian component which also shows some of the base of the proposed new bridge: https://www.fox4now.com/cape-coral/heres-what-the-pedestrian-bridge-in-cape-coral-could-look-like

I would expect traffic will divert to the Midpoint Bridge during construction. Maybe that bridge will eventually need to be expanded to six lanes as well.
