I haven't heard of any of the three, so as far as I'm concerned, zero people have died within the last two days (other than the two that died at the failed assassination attempt).

Famous people always die in threes, according to stopwatch holders who wish it to be so; the rest of us die in presumably nearly infinite series.
Are we going to have to start calling snowc "the undertaker" (I actually had a coworker refer to someone as such because that person would send out obituary notices on the regular) because of how many death threads he's been posting lately?

I feel as though the phenomenon of posting celebrity deaths is just one of many real-world news stories, I would otherwise not have exposure to. Of course, always terrible when famous people die...I just don't see how it affects me.
Another forum to which I belong deals with the issue of celebrity-death clutter by having a thread called "Deaths of famous people (####)," where #### denotes the year. The moderators lock it a day or two after the year ends.

True. It just seems like he's been doing that a

Granted, I probably notice more than I would with others because his avatar is a close-up of his face, which stands out for me because I don't like staring at people's faces (to the point where I'll rest my work email in Outlook on messages from people who don't have a profile picture set and avoid doing so on those who have added their face to their Outlook profile, as management encouraged during the pandemic to make email "more personal").

A forum I moderate for formerly had those, but things started to get out of hand because the idea of a notable death is also in the eye of the beholder (such as if a famous news anchor in City A dies, that may mean a lot to someone from City A, but has zero meaning to anyone with no ties to City A), and those threads were eventually discontinued and disallowed.

There certainly does seem to be a trend of younger users treating the forum like Facebook and other social media rather than something different. I also spend a lot more time around here than Facebook, and Facebook profile pictures seem to be smaller, but that might be because I have the browser downsize the Facebook interface because it otherwise doesn't fit properly within my browser windows (it seems to be designed for people who keep their windows maximized).
This was a pretty rough weekend for people who grew up in the 80s and 90s. Shannen Doherty was a mainstay on TV during the 90s.

That's actually a brilliant idea to reduce clutter and I'm interested to know if other people might like it.
I generally only glance over the obit threads for anything I might need to mod, since most of them are people I haven't heard of (I haven't the foggiest idea who the celebrities who are active right now are, much less the ones who were active long enough ago they're reaching end-of-life). Were I not a mod, I probably wouldn't look at them at all. For others in the same boat as me, having one batch thread would be helpful.

And I should also note that on that other forum the moderators will usually allow for a separate thread in the case of a really exceptionally high-profile death—the example that most readily comes to mind was when the Queen died in September 2022 and they allowed a separate thread so as not to overwhelm the main "annual" thread.
I'm sure the same would have been true had a certain bullet this weekend taken a different path, although I also have a feeling that thread would have gotten out of control and gotten itself locked.

Although I will admit to being a fan of "90210" during its original run -- and somehow I've managed to miss the two reboots -- I personally think the most pertinent obituary to be posted on here this year is that of Michael Summa.
