Ever notice there were songs they used to play on the radio that you never hear anymore? For example, the entire Peter Wolf solo catalog, or maybe a couple of Scandal songs that just barely missed the top 40.
I have a new blog that serves as a monument to these lost hits.

Free pee is good?
I hear "Jesus He Knows Me" quite a bit, but maybe that's regionally-specific since it's more offensive to the televangelist crowd.

I haven't heard it on the radio in 30 years.

I saw your entry for July 22nd. One of my all time favorite albums. You could have had No Sone of Mine and I Can't Dance also among the lost hits from that album. But Jesus He Knows Me was such a good poke at the phony evangelicals that were and still around. 2 other songs from that album that I love as deep cuts were Driving the Last Spike and Dreaming While You Sleep. Such a great story-telling album.
Will you keep us posted here of what is upcoming on the blog?

There's a good yacht rock laugh coming up, and maybe some rap too.
How about Chariots of Fire? I heard that song constantly back in 1982, but never hear it any longer.
Which is a good thing.

I wonder how its use in so many movies and TV shows changed the royalty fees to put it in a radio playlist. "Send Me on my Way" by Rusted Root is another one I hear a lot in TV and film, but almost never on the radio.

One song I'd love to have showcased is the Chicago song 25 or 6 to 4 (and not just because the band was named after my hometown!). I used to love singing along to the refrain, which is probably the catchiest one of all time. While a lot of their old hits have seen regular radio airplay over the years, this is sadly not one of them, though it's clear to see the reason why.

You need to get XM then. I swear the Classic Vinyl plays it any time I switch it on.
And it's not hyperbole, it's the most played song on the station the last month, https://xmplaylist.com/station/classicvinyl/most-heard

Yeah I was gonna say...I hear it all of the time.
But I don't hear the 1986 remake at all - and for good reason.

Don't worry, Chicago may have an entry for a different song. I might not get to it for a couple months though.
I'll nominate "Get Away" (Chicago 16, 1982) - skip to the end of the "Sorry" ballad at 4:00 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvxotwpM-_c

I never heard the remake before this post. It's ok. To me, it feels like Chicago was trying to do the same thing Clapton did with the remake of After Midnight.

I would say not as successful.

The original by JJ Cale is better than both of Clapton's versions...in my opinion of course.

Let me guess -- either "Free" or "Lowdown" from the
Chicago III album. Or "Harry Truman" from
Chicago VIII.

I'm thinking more late '70s to mid-'80s.
The Jack FM franchise in your market might play something you haven't heard in a few years, like "Run To You" by Bryan Adams or "Secret Separation" by The Fixx. But yes, there is a wealth of lost hits from the past from many decades.

We've never even had a Jack FM type of station here. There used to be one in Ripley that used to reach the east side of town on a good day, but that was it.
"Mama Weer All Crazee Now" by Quiet Riot is on SiriusXM channel 38 (Ozzy's Boneyard) all the time. I assume it's played on 39 (Hair Nation) as well.
