When I was looking at an old alignment of US 270 (Dow Lake Rd.) North of Haileyville, OK on Google Earth, in particular a stretch that crosses Brushy Creek, West of Dow Lake, I saw some old bridge abutments along the North side of Old US 270.
According to Historic Aerials, those old bridge abutments were visible in the 1955 aerial images.
Did these old bridge abutments part of an older alignment of US 270, or was it an old railroad bridge?

Looks like it was some sort of railroad, possibly an electric interurban line.

Yes, those piers once carried the Pittsburg County Railway's bridge. It was an interurban that ran from McAlester to Hartshorne - you can see the former ROW in places along the old US 270 alignments west of there.
There's also several former Rock Island lines in that area, but they're so overgrown that it's hard to see them most of the year.
