Has anyone noticed that there is a traffic signal at the end of the off-ramp from southbound Interstate 15 to CA-138 at Cajon Junction. It was not there last year. This signal would be the newest easternmost traffic signal on the 138.
Also, there is a traffic signal at the intersection of Cajon Boulevard and the 138.
That got added as part of the upgrades in that segment. They're clearly planning for greater traffic volumes now that most of 138 between the LA County line and the 15 is widened.
At least they didn't put in a roundabout.
I'm still waiting for them to fourlane CA-138 leading into the interchange. They've done miles of it west of that, and it looks like a major chokepoint. I only pass through there on weekends (just did earlier today), and it's fine, but I can imagine rush hour being a mess.
Yeah, it's a bad choke there, especially since the ride up and down the grade past CA 2 is so comparatively nice and smooth now. But at least you get a scenic view of the Mormon Rocks, I suppose.
The portion in LA county still needs a lot of work. When cutting through the Antelope Valley I still try to bypass as much of it as I can through Lake Los Angeles.
