April 5: Florence AL (Cody)
April 12: Sacramento CA (Max)
May 3: Hudson Valley NY (David G)
May 3: Mobile AL city meet (AJ)
May 31: northern Pittsburgh PA (Mark)
June 7: Winnipeg MB (Alps)
June 28: Springfield IL (Brandon)
July 26: "Quad-State Boogaloo 2" - Washington County MD and WV (Laura)
August 9: Brattleboro VT (Valerie)
September 13: Lake of the Ozarks MO (Gene)
September 27: Madison WI (Nikolai)
October 4: Feather River Canyon, CA (Josh)
Probably going to put something together for Sacramento once the MLB schedule comes out. Likely it would be earlier in the year so it isn't hot as balls during the meet and post-meet game.
Now the thing that is wracking my mind is where to start said meet? I was thinking downtown Folsom to take advantage of all the Lincoln Highway and US 50 stuff. Maybe head north through Coloma on CA 49 to Auburn to get the Forest Hill Bridge in the mix?
Given delays in bridge completion, Val's mentioned her Brattleboro meet will probably be pushed tom2025.
I've been thinking about a fall 2025 meet (or mini-meet) in the Northern or Eastern Sierra. Oroville/Feather River Canyon, Susanville/Chester, and Mono and/or Inyo Counties were my initial thoughts. All have stunning meet-worthy sights, old alignments, bridges, you name it.
As
@froggie mentioned, the plan for Brattleboro is indeed next year. Tentatively looking at August sometime.
I am thinking potentially sometime in April for the northern Pittsburgh suburbs (Cranberry, Butler, Zelienople, Rochester, etc.). I still need a fully open Freedom Road between PA 65 and PA 989 to consider it.
The
@Max Rockatansky and
@cl94 meets might fit into my plan for 2025, nice.
As far as heat, do
not be surprised if it is hot in April in the valley.
Right, but my thought was that a potential high of 90F is superior to 110F come summer. I would imagine the As are mostly going to be playing night games like the minor league teams do come summer.

I see it as an opportunity for cheap MLB tickets. I'll be curious to see who the As get for their early home schedule.

Tickets will either be cheap or expensive. Sacramento may want to show they're able to support a team, which could mean high demand. I know Blue Jays tickets were hard to come by when they were playing in Buffalo.

Well the fans don't have to cross a border to get to these games.
I am planning a Florence, AL meet for late March or early April 2025.
Definitely interested in Sacramento and Springfield.
I'm thinking of doing a Hudson Valley meet, focusing on Westchester and Rockland counties, probably some time in the spring.

The massive CWE project from about 15 years ago or so was quite underrated.
I'm going to put Oroville/ Feather River Canyon on the calendar for September or October. With how much this area is at risk for big fires and other disasters, I don't want to take our ability to do a nice loop for granted.

This one may be a better option for me than Sacto due to timing then. Allowing me to drive out this way on my intended routes (I can certainly expect some snow if October but if too far in, the less chance I have).
I'll only make one of the CA meets, then. Probably Sacramento.
I don't have a passport, or else I'd be going to literally any of those meets.

I'm looking at hosting a meet in Washington County, MD (and across the river into WV) this summer. (Currently thinking July?)
I'm looking around the Potomac River and along the C&O Canal. On the MD side would include Wilson, Williamsport, Antietam. On the WV side, Falling Waters and Harpers Ferry.

Quad State II: Electric Boogaloo?
Sounds interesting, though I'm not sure if I'll be able to fit it in or not. It's tempting, however.
Also not sure about the Hudson Valley one, now that I know I'll likely have a civil service test jammed in early May. 2025 is sure filling up fast (though I do like having a good idea of what my year will look like this early).

August is fairly open for me right now as far as I know; I was planning on scheduling after I got a firmer idea of when the family picnic will be (almost always July, but early August has happened), perhaps with a poll. Right now I would consider August 9 or August 16 to be the most likely dates.

Washington County and Brattleboro seem interesting and doable for me, especially if I'll be in New Jersey and if those meets are in the summer.

I'll be posting a separate thread for updates once I'm ready to definitively announce the date (right now I'm 99% sure on August 9 and ~80% sure lunch will be at the 99 off exit 3; the only reason it's not formally announced now is because I don't want to commit to something and then get surprised with the family picnic being around then) which will contain everything and which will be updated if there are any changes/additions.

The Lake of the Ozarks meet has been set on 9/13. You will have to join Road Meets (https://www.facebook.com/groups/836455994788814) to see it.
The Feather River Canyon (Oroville/Quincy, CA) meet will be on October 4. This meet will focus on the CA 70 (former US 40A) corridor, as well as its predecessor road to the south that linked Oroville to Quincy by crossing the mountains. CA 70 through the canyon is one of the best places in the country for road and rail scenery and engineering marvels, so it should be a good one for the people who like bridges, tunnels, and trains along with their roads. And did I mention that fun roads will be involved?
Current stops I have in my head are downtown Oroville and its bypassed truss bridge, the West Branch bridge just north of Cherokee, the Pulga Bridges, the Tobin Bridges, Belden Town, the Keddie Wye, Quincy (mid-tour lunch), and the new Bidwell Bar Bridge. I may try and see if I can plea to get us to the Old Bidwell Bar Bridge sans-toll, or we could always chip in a couple of bucks each to get into the park. I assure you, the first steel suspension bridge on the west coast is worth the price of admission if we can split the cost a few ways.
