Yesterday (Sunday, Dec. 8, at 4:05 PM EST) I received an email saying that "the 'forgot password' function has been applied to your account." A link was provided for me to click to reset my password.
I had not been active on the forum since Friday. I was not active at all on Saturday and had not been active on Sunday.
I was traveling when I got the email, so I logged into the forum from my phone with my old password, which worked fine. I did nothing else online regarding the forum yesterday.
What would prompt this? Was there an attempt being made to hack me? The IP address mentioned was 32.218.238.240, which traced back to Bridgeport, Conn. and Southern New England Telephone Company and SNET America, Inc.
For the record, I was not active on the forum Saturday or Sunday.
Has anyone else gotten any random password reset links?
Well if someone on the forum was trying to do something dumb to your account at least an IP address exists of the attempt.
I've never gotten a password reset link e-mail in my 10 years here.

Sure sounds to me like someone was trying to login using your username.

I think I had it happen once upon a time. I get someone trying to sign into my Instacart account once a month or so. I've never actually even used Instacart, so there are no details there that anyone would find interesting.

I suppose, as long as you don't have any credit card or other personal information saved there.

Yeah, I never even populated any info. And I should clarify my earlier comment. I think I got a password reset request once upon a time from AARoads. Maybe a year or two ago.
Wonder who it was? Marf?
