I plan to do further scouting while in Pittsburgh to see the Braves play the Pirates on Mother's Day Weekend, which is why I pushed this meet into May.
Not the first meet to be held in that area. There was a SWPA meet 2 decades ago at the Quaker Steak and Lube in Cranberry (which no longer exists). IIRC, it was held to show off the then-new Cranberry Connector.
I voted May 31 but really any one of those dates works for me, just have to take off that Saturday and good to go
I'd like to go off the board and vote for June 28 because the Mets are in town that weekend. ;)
In all seriousness, I don't have a preference. As much as I would like to attend since I missed out on SWPA25 last year, my attendance would be dependent on my job situation and other necessary arrangements that would need to be made.
June 28th is currently winning the poll for Brandon's Springfield, IL, meet.
As much as I'm excited about the idea of going out to Pittsburgh again, I'm also about to start a new job where taking a lot of vacation in the near future isn't in the cards. Maybe I could manage to squeeze it in if it's Memorial Day weekend, but otherwise I'm afraid that I won't be able to make this one work.
I wanted to go to this but I'm having surgery on 5/21 so it's super unlikely.
I decided to go with May 31st for this meet. As much as I wanted to go with May 17th, my dad turns 70 that weekend so I really should leave that weekend open.

I am very much still open to lunch/dinner suggestions.
I should be good for that day, nothing going on with my other hobby, not sure if the wife will be with me or not. Been many years since I spent any time on that side of Steel City
<strike>Has the date been set for this one?<strike> (geeze I need to learn to read the topic...) I need to get out and explore that side of my new state. And by "new," I mean I've lived here since 2021, so not so new anymore.

One last reminder to RSVP if you are coming ASAP. Due to the forum outages, I did not end up posting my update from a couple weeks ago. The links from above are quoted here.
All set for this weekend, Steph has to work so I am solo.
Looks like it should be a nice meet, but I unfortunately won't be able to make it because of a wedding that day.
Evening everyone,
I got back from the Pittsburgh area fine with no issues, took the scenic route home (mainly to avoid the stupid high tolls on the turnpike) Took PA 8 north to Butler, had a nice lunch at the last remaining Ponderosa Steakhouse then headed east on US 422 to US 22- I-99 and US 322 home.
Thanks Mark David Moore for putting together a nice road meet, had a great lunch, got to see alot of western PA I never saw before despite the March like weather on the last day of May. Only 5 of us showed up plus Brian Powell for lunch but overall it was nice 🙂 I know from experience of hosting meets how having a large turn out meet is always fun but can be a bit overwhelming (Again congrats to Dan Murphy for setting the record a couple years ago in Buffalo) thats why small turn out meets like on Saturday are a nice change especially when you have established friendships with the others and in the case of Erik it good meeting him for the first time.
Roadgeek friends in our community I am still working on putting together a road meet for next spring in Harrisburg. Later this fall I will have a poll up on AA roads for what dates are best, it will be in April or early to mid May keeping in mind of the holidays and my toy show schedule. Lunch will be at a still TBD place more then likely along Eisenhauer blvd. This meet will involve seeing construction on I-83 that is really ramping up in the Harrisburg area, a little history on the Eisenhauer interchange, US 322 between Eisenhauer and Hershey, seeing some of the unique street features of Hershey (this co-insides with the release of a biopic movie on the life of Milton Hershey) then a quick trip down 83 to see the finished results of the Mt Rose ave interchange that took 7 (yes 7) years to re-build and drive the historic US 111 from North York back up to Harrisburg go from there. Fingers crossed the weather will be good, in April 2016 we had a freak snow storm happen the morning of that road meet so hopefully next spring will be warm ;-)
