Another famed actor gone.

And I'm well aware his filmography is much longer than those
Rest In Peace
Hoosiers is the 3rd best sports movie of all-time
And producer Sherwood Schwartz's first choice to play Mike on the Brady Bunch. The network vetoed it because they didn't know who Hackman was.

RIP.

Gotta say, now I'm imagining epic battles between Alice and Lex Luthor (one of the best potrayals of a calm-and-collected-but-crazy villain).

Yeah, it's up there.
Went to the Otisburg in the sky.
That was a horrible loss, with his wife and their pet also gone. RIP Gene
An underrated Hackman role - being a somewhat sympathetic KKK member in The Chamber.
The first time I saw his acting was paired with Will Smith in Enemy of the State; I thought he was pretty good.

With lots of innaccuracies

It wasn't intended to be accurate.
The news was pretty shocking. Both Hackman, his wife and their dog were all found deceased. My first thought was carbon monoxide poisoning.
Who ever has been editing the "In Memoriam" segment for the upcoming Academy Awards telecast this weekend will have to make a serious edit to get Gene Hackman in there. Those segments have been controversial in recent years for glaring omissions. Hackman is a enough of an acting legend that you don't dare leave him out of that roll call. Many of his fans would be pissed.
Hackman was in so many good movies.
Superman: The Movie was a childhood favorite. I think I was in high school the first time I saw
The French Connection and
The Conversation. His bit part as a blind man in
Young Frankenstein was hilarious. Then there's his role as Little Bill in
Unforgiven. One hell of an acting career.

He was born in San Bernadino, CA. His family moved around several times, ultimately settling in Danville, but Gene Hackman left there when he was 16 to join the Marine Corps.
Saw an article that said that he won an Oscar for his portrayal of a policeman who got his man at too high of a cost.
Erm...might want to rewatch that movie, guy.
Gene Hackman did a small cameo uncredited in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein.

He also starred in a underrated neo-noir movie named Twilight, no it's not the one with wampires, it's a different kind with Paul Newman.

Man, it's quite hard to pick my favorite Gene Hackman movie.
Let me try to rate them. Of those I've seen:
1. Unforgiven
2. Crimson Tide
3. The Firm
4. The Birdcage
5. The Chamber
6. Get Shorty
7. Young Frankenstein
8. The Royal Tenenbaums
9. Runaway Jury
10. Mississippi Burning
11. Hoosiers
12. Superman
13. Superman II
14. Antz
15. Enemy of the State
Meh. Crimson Tide was so formulaic.
Loved him in Unforgiven, but it's such a bleak/dark movie.
I'm going with Royal Tenenbaums for today.

To me though, the best Western ever.

Hm. Prefer John Wayne's True Grit or Leone's For a Few Dollars More...

You, sir, have excellent taste.
Wait, what did I just SAY??

...stomach cancer.

That was a pretty good composite of several people I've meet over the years.
What movie was it where him, Dom Deluise, and Dan Akeroyd were three men on the run to obtain a film that was incriminating to some terrorists who also were searching for the film to avoid going to prison.
The search led them to Grand Central in New York in where the evidence was stored inside an employee locker.

I took the ten seconds to Google it: Loose Cannons.
Gotta love how cops keep contradicting their statements. Do your fucking job investigating the situation, then say something, okay?

Feel free to cite the contradictory statements because I have seen none.

That sounds like media speculation not the police. I never once saw them blame CO.

His daughter, apparently speaking on behalf of the family, had speculated that it was carbon monoxide, and some media ran with that, but I never saw any statements from police or fire saying they suspected that as a cause.

The initial report was that the couple and their dog were all dead, which makes CO the most likely cause. However, it has since been revealed that there were other dogs in the house that survived, so that pretty much rules out CO.

Those two statements are not contradictory.
