Here is an obit of the legend who started out as a radio host in San Francisco and went on to have success with his band.
Everybody has a new star (in the sky).
RIP.
Sly Stone and his band were remarkable for the late 1960's. In the face of a lot of racial and cultural polarization his band had a mix of men and women, black and white. I think Sly Stone paved the way for acts like Prince and the Revolution.
