Title: Returning to the forum to gush about US 89 from Logan to Garden City
Post by: Roadgeekteen on July 15, 2025, 03:00:18 AM
My family is taking a trip in Grand Tetons/Yellowstone this week and we flew into Salt Lake City and decided on a whim just to take US 89. Holy crap what a beautiful drive! This blew me away. The mountains, the canyon views, everything was spectacular. I'm going to need to go back and explore the Wastach Front more in detail. This was not part of our main trip but wow.

Take US 212 along the Beartooth Highway next time.  Pretty much blows the doors off any other highway to Yellowstone for scenery.

Beartooth isn't exactly on the way from Salt Lake to Yellowstone, but it's certainly worth the side trip. So's Chief Joseph Scenic Byway.

But yes, US-89 is a great ride through there, and a really nice road from end to end.
