This sounds a lot like something that happened in Kentucky five years ago, except no lawsuit was filed.
Back during the height of the pandemic-that-shall-not-be-named-here in 2020, Tupac Shakur filed for -- and was denied -- unemployment benefits. The governor even mentioned it during one of his daily press conferences, talking about fraudulent claims.
Turns out that someone actually named Tupac Shakur lived in Kentucky, was laid off, filed for unemployment, and was denied. The governor was forced to apologize live on television a few weeks later.

Earlier today, I googled the names of my wife's grandaunt and -uncle. Google's AI immediately told me that they are the parents of a very famous football player who retired a few years ago.
Now, my wife's uncle does have the same name as that football player, but I assure you they're not the same person. It's pretty creepy that, in a matter of seconds, Google's AI had correctly identified the name of their son and then with total confidence told me facts about a completely different family.
My wife has now corrected me, and it's even wackier. I'll start off by just saying that the football player in question is Tim Tebow.
She indeed has an uncle Tim, but his name isn't Tebow. She has another uncle named T
om Tebow, though, and that's the one whose parents I was googling. So, when I googled ____ and ____ Tebow, Google AI told me that they are the parents of former collegiate and NFL football player Tim Tebow—even though their actual son's name is Tom Tebow, and he's never played college or NFL ball as far as I know.
Strangely enough, there is actually a family connection between them and the famous football player.

There was a Los Angeles talk show host who had the same name as the pop star as in Michael Jackson. He was in Los Angeles from the 1960s to the 2000s.

Here is a blog post from the former talk show host when he found out that the pop star of the same name left this world in 2009. He found out when fans of the pop star put flowers on his part of the walk of fame and understood where the pop star's fans were coming from when that happened.
