The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced that it will be replacing the overpass that carries Witch Meadow Road over the CT 11 (https://www.eastcoastroads.com/states/ct/state/ct11) expressway, with construction beginning on October 31 of this year. In conjunction with this project, the overpass has been renamed to honor an actual witch. It shall henceforth be known as the Elphaba Thropp (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6COmYeLsz4c) Memorial Bridge. While the overpass is closed for construction, crossing the expressway by defying gravity on broomsticks will be strongly encouraged. Signs giving the new name will be erected when the work is complete. In compliance with the MUTCD, all signage will of course be green.
Is the bridge really going to be named after the witch from Wicked, or is this satire?
