Title: Built my own Button Copy sign
Post by: FortWorth820 on November 28, 2010, 12:18:50 PM
Hey Guys,

This is my first post here. My name is Sean Tooke and I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area. I collect traffic signals and signs primarily from DFW. A while ago I came across a large supply of old button copy from a lady out in east Texas. Only having capital letters, I managed to pick up about 3 boxes of button copy. Here is what I built. The sheeting is from a company called American Traffic Safety Materials and its non-reflective sign sheeting just like old signs here in DFW. I remember there being a sign existing in button copy that had this same message except the D in RD was a lower case d and the 1 was actually 1/4. The sign isnt 100% done, it still needs the border which is coming soon in the mail!

Enjoy!

The first picture is so good that it looks like white LED's rather than button copy.

That's old New York style (or Massachusetts, for that matter), with the message entirely in capital letters.  I didn't even notice the lack of lower-case 'd' because I live in NJ.

Wow, that's totally cool! :D

What might be fun to do is mount magnets on the back of the characters so you can make a reusable button copy sign board. Just make whatever message you want and then pick the letters off when you're done.
